Gotta get this but I'm thinking that SRP is higher than the previous two seasons?

$70 for a season seems awfully steep. Been waiting for season 2 to drop in price.

I wouldn't say "awfully." It's about the same as other hour-long TV series have been listing for, the only difference being that "Chuck" is 18 episodes instead of 22. So, yeah, they should knock a few bucks off of that, but it's not that bad. And it'll street for $45.

Does this series ever go on sale? Seems like Fringe, Supernatural, Smallville, etc. often do but I don't know if I've seen this one.

Yeah, season one and two are out right now, and as you can see season three is being released in September.

I've seen decent sale prices for Season 1 but S2 has remained about $45-$49 since release.

By "on sale" he meant is the price ever reduced significantly, not whether it is available for purchase.

Exactly. It just seems like a lot of these Warner shows regularly go down to $20 on SD, but I don't recall seeing this one do that very often.

Oh, my bad.

Well Amazon has season two for $38 (new) and season one for $22 (new), so that could be defined as "on sale".

And there we go: season 1 for $20.

I'm not saying a full season wouldn't be worth more than 20 bucks to me, but when studios/stores set this kind of pricing bar, it's hard to go back.

I don't have either of the preious two seasons on Blu, but I hope they up the PQ. However, given the decreased budget that S3 saw I doubt it.

Season 1 doesn't look all that great either. Still waiting for Season 2 to drop to around the same price as when I bought 1 ($24.99 at Best Buy), but I think 2 doesn't look great either if I remember correctly about the reviews.

I'm not sure what's up with the PQ. 16mm has always looked pretty grainy, but "Psych" in HD looks much better then Chuck and it's shot with 16mm. I dunno, maybe to reduce costs they use cheaper film stock?

Keep in mind, Season 1 is 13 episodes, but Season 2 is 22. I doubt it will ever be as cheap as Season 1.

I don't know, Warner titles have a tendency to plummet to insanely low numbers. I'm sure there'll be a sale at some point where Chuck S2 is $24.99 or less. (For example, season 8 of Smallville came out a few months before this Chuck set, and it's already $29.99 on Amazon.)

It also came out cheap to hook people on the show since it's been a bubble show since season 1.

Part of the problem is that Chuck has a lot of digital manipulation in post-production, including contrast boosting that tends to emphasize the grain.

That said, Season 3 generally looked better in broadcast than the previous seasons.

This. Its tough to bite for $70 a season, when we see them dropping at least 50% before too long.

Again, no one needs to pay $70. That's list price. It will be readily available for ~$45.

That's true, raised contrast levels can definitely impact the quality of an image. The Losers had the same thing going on, because of the over saturation and contrast some of the scenes looked grainy when they other wise wouldn't have. Another reason why they should use 4k DI's more often...
