The show has such a large ensemble cast, did they really need to add this schmuck as a series regular?

There's really nowhere for the show to go. They almost need Sabre since Jim and Pam are together and aside from Michael's antics there isn't much of a true plot point. I guess the Dwigt and Angela baby thing could play out next season too... but Gabe - meh.

Re: The Office Promotes "Gabe"
Agree with the "meh" consensus. I'd rather see Amy Ryan promoted to series regular.
BTW, anyone else catch her in "Green Zone"? I had an odd reaction to her in this very serious role -- I kept wanting to smile every time she was on screen. Dangers of type-casting I guess; might be better for her career if she doesn't become a series regular. I think Steve Carrel has a similar problem but in his case I think it's already ordained that his career will revolve around zany comedy roles.

I hope this guy never googles himself.
For some reason when I read the thread title, I was thinking that the Office was going to be promoting his spin-off show, which would have been one of the worst ideas for a spin-off ever.

"Meh" as well. But I said the same about Andy, and like the character a lot more now.
They just need to flesh him out some more, instead to just making him Toby-lite.

I guess they plan to do something with the whole "Dwight owns the building" storyline...but that's not too much either.
I think they've burned some storylines too quickly. I would have certainly had the Michael Scott Paper Company storyline last a few more episodes. And Michael dating Pam's mom could have lasted longer. They cut them some of them short IMO.
