Actually very tired of this one. Heartbreak/Living became like Freebird or Stairway in that if I never hear it again no problem. That said, What is ..., Bring It ... and Ramble On are keepers for me.

Surprisingly one of my least favorite Zeppelin albums. I can't stand "Living Loving Maid" and I'm tired of "Ramble On". But the rest of the album is very good. "What Is..." and "Bring It on Home" are my favs, and I haven't completely gotten tired of "Heartbreaker" yet. It's still a classic, I just rarely listen to it much.

This album was recorded while on tour and it shows, imo. Looking back on it now, the only songs are really like are the first two and Heartbreaker/Living Loving Maid. Moby Dick stops the album dead in its tracks, but by then I've already checked out. Overrated.

Never thought I'd find this much indifference to LZII! It's an album that I should have been sick of years, hell DECADES ago, but the quality holds up in so many ways.

I'd rather give a listen to Black Sabbath's debut than this any day (in terms of important heavy metal albums that came out in 1969).

Two completely different albums though. BS is a top 10 group for me (and their s/t album is in their Top 3) but it lacks the versatility, range, and musicianship of LZII.

Re: Led Zeppelin, Album by Album: Led Zeppelin II
II is one of my favorite albums. Period. Whole Lotta Love is still a facemeltingly awesome track. The whole album is great, but WLL and the 2nd side of the record are Pantheon level awesome. Admittedly, I like Moby Dick as an individual piece, but it does kind of slow the momentum of the side a little more than I would like. IT's not bad enough for me to mark off though. 5/5 on the Zeppelin scale.
