Re: Say Hello to the Slim Xbox 360

Looks about the same size as the original 360. I never saw a point to having a slim version. The 360 is not that very big to warrant a smaller version.

Look at the DVD Drive slot - it'll be at least 20% smaller + an internal HD. Looks like USB ports might only be on the back (not that I use them).

I don't think the size itself is that big of a deal, but including Wireless and a better design are good.

I use the front USB slot for my single wired controller and the 360 mic. Moving them only to the back would be kind of a pain.

Re: Say Hello to the Slim Xbox 360

Cool design and the 250gb HD is a nice touch. Not really sure if this is enough to make me spring for a new 360 tho...

Could have a small cover like the Wii has for the SD Card slot. But the spring design is gone (fine by me).

Re: Say Hello to the Slim Xbox 360

If my current 360 died I could see picking up a redesign. However, if the HDD is internal and I wouldn't be able to transfer my data from the current drive or snap it on.... well that would kind of kill it for me.

There will have to be a way to transfer stuff over... Maybe with a Flashdrive?

Re: Say Hello to the Slim Xbox 360

You can already use a flash drive with 360, so that would be the transfer tool.

Not everything is copyable though (without doing some kooky method piñata will outline for us )

Either way, I imagine they have thought that through in some fashion. Maybe there will be a port that will accept the drive transfer cable?

I hope they have an easy method for doing so if it's not via USB. I really don't want to buy a cable either, so maybe a mail-away type thing...

NeoGAF kids are having a fieldday with it.

Re: Say Hello to the Slim Xbox 360

Ahh, and even more proof there sure as hell better be a way to move Saves over - - the Memory Card slot has been dumped! Kinda figured this when 360 incorporated Flash Drives.

Re: Say Hello to the Slim Xbox 360

(What appears to be) Vertical loading only=fail and no sale.

And the Internal HD is the icing on the cake of fail. I feel bad for anyone who has to send one of these in and the buffoons at MS just send them a replacement, not taking into account save files.

Vertical loading only? What makes you think that?

Re: Say Hello to the Slim Xbox 360

Look at the text on the DVD Drive - why would you assume it's Vertical only?

Re: Say Hello to the Slim Xbox 360

Looks too much like a Gawd damn Wii on drugs in Blackface. I'll never buy it.

But seriously, it looks nice but I'm concerned about the slimmer design. I thought one of the issues with the 360's concave design was obstruction of airflow which added to the RROD? How is this new design addressing this? I see a big vent but how well will this work?

The angle of that picture made it look like it would set bowed if turned 90°. Now, I can see how it would set flat, although the jutting corner in that position as a result is sure ugly.

The internals have probably been improved quite a bit; smaller, cooler running chips.
