http://www.monstersandcritics.com/sm...une-6-previews
Large Penis and navigating High School social life is the central theme of MTV's The Hard Times of RJ Berger.
Take one 90-pound weakling who gets pantsed one day, and his "special gift" is revealed. A whole new respect for RJ occurs, who is now walking a bit taller as the secret of his size has hit the underground communique of the campus.
The once shy high school student, RJ, is packing major heat.
The official feed from MTV:
“The Hard Times of RJ Berger” orbits the hilariously-hellish lives of a deeply unpopular 15 year-old (Paul Iacono) and his scheming, sex-obsessed best friend, Miles Jenner (Jareb Dauplaise). Other than pining after the girl of his dreams, Jenny Swanson (Amber Lancaster), receiving daily beatings from the meanest jock in school, Max Owens (Jayson Blair), and evading the stalker-ish advances of Lily Miran (Kara Taitz), there really isn't much excitement in RJ's life. That is, until his anatomical gift is accidentally exposed to the entire school.
In a single moment, RJ goes from anonymous to infamous, and for the first time in his life, he feels a tiny sliver of confidence. Swept up in this man-sized wave of recognition, we'll watch RJ claw his way out of the popularity basement. Whether it's trying to get laid, dealing with his bizarre parents, or simply navigating the treacherous waters of sophomore year, RJ will live out the stories -- good, bad and ugly -- that we all remember from high school. One mis-adventure at a time, we'll see him grow from a shy, awkward boy into a slightly less shy and awkward young man. Part “The Wonder Years” and part Superbad, “The Hard Times of RJ Berger” is a loud, funny, raunchy, sexy look at the life of lovable loser.
Tune-in to “The Hard Times of RJ Berger” June 6th at 11/10C right after the MTV Movie Awards.

I think Mondays or something? I set my DVR to record this. Hell, nice to see MTV have some scripted-ish shows vs reality crap.

have to agree, I laughed more than expected. It's a very dirty show, kinda surprised with what they got away with.

Yeah specially that not so good looking girl that likes him but she essentially tells him he could fuck her in any hole...... What HS kid in their right mind would turn that down????? She'd have to weigh in at over 250 right?

I've never seen a show start off with a HS kid masturbating only to have his mom come in a cause him to finish.

Very funny, I enjoyed the pilot, and will keep tuning in. But at the basketball game. Did he drop his pants or did someone else pull them down after missing the game winning shot? Wasn't quite sure.

Can't wait for the teachers to hit on RJ. You know it's coming...
Part of me wishes this show was on Showtime, but given that it takes place in high school, it's not like they could get away with gratuitous nudity for 'underage' characters, but the cursing without the beepage would be appreciated.

I think the "beeps" add humor to it... because it is high school and it is a cuss free zone for the most part ... so the beeps give that little extra taboo to the dialog

Caught this show last night. It seems to me that this is what Howard Stern the High School Years would have been like. I wonder if someone at Viacom took his idea and developed it on their own. Of course tiny penis has become giant penis, but the character and antics seem to be what Howard has described over the years.

I watched the pilot the other night and it left me feeling a little skeevy. I wouldn't have minded the raunchy themes at all if there had just been a little likability to any of the characters, but without that it just seemed to be coated with a grimy film of nihilism, and left me with a feeling reminiscent of the self-disgust one gets 3 seconds after spending a good chunk of an evening in the clutches of porn.

Consider me into the minority, but I thought the pilot was a piece of shit.
All of the characters are fucking one-note caricatures:
- Horny, sex-obsessed depraved geek who lacks all social skills.
- Fat, sex-obsessed best friend who also lacks all social skills and could be a potential date rapist.
- Weird looking, sex-obsessed emo/punk-rock female friend who also lacks all social skills.
- Hot, popular girl that no guy can get...
- ... except the hot, popular guy who probably is already a date rapist.
I've seen this shit before in almost every other direct-to-video teenage/college crap-fest released in the past twenty years.
The show has a premise that could be funny, but the execution blows. I would've preferred something more grounded in reality, similar to say the film The Girl Next Door, but I forgot I was watching MTV where there's no sense of nuance or subtlety.
I think the only joke that made me laugh was the Tyler Perry joke in the preview for upcoming episodes.

I watched the pilot and second episode last night. Thought it was going to be better after some of the praise in this thread.

Last night's episode was a little bit slower than the pilot.. but still enjoyed it. Will stick around for a couple of more episodes

Re: MTV's The Hard Times of RJ Berger
any thoughts on last night's episode?
I watched it and I liked it.
I liked RJ confronting his parents in their room about the loud sex and there was another guy in there trying to hide behind the dresser
