Actors who went out on a strong note
Which actors would you agree died with a solid final on-screen appearance? I know that animated films have often been the death knell for many famous faces, but I don't consider voice acting on the same level as seeing one of my favorite actors in the flesh on the silver screen.
So, who do you think had one great, final film to bid them farewell?
My pick: Vincent Price in Edward Scissorhands. It's my favorite Burton film, and it was great seeing Price in a final role which was perfectly suited to his talents.

Paul Newman in Road To Perdition was his last screen appearance and a really great one.
Worst: Katherine Hepburn in Warren Beatty's awful "Love Affair." Sad to see (and according to a new Beatty bio, he basically kidnapped her to make her appear in it!!!

Henry Fonda in On Golden Ponds
James Cagney in Ragtime
James Dean in Giant
Humphrey Bogart in The Harder They Fall

well, it also could have been closed 2 posts ago when I said it. But I think John Cazale should be excluded by virtue of the fact that all 5 of the films he appeared were masterpieces. Beating out James Deans all masterpieces total by 2.

I haven't seen it, but James Cagney's last film, Ragtime, was nominated for 8 Oscars.
A few other worthy final films:
Judy Garland - I Could Go On Singing
Paul Newman - Road to Perdition
Walter Huston - The Furies
