DVDTalk Draft Round 2 (Tarantino vs cardsfan111)

Hello voter! Please vote for the team of characters that you like better. It's all personal preference. If one character on the list ruins a team for you and you select the other team based on that alone, so be it (although it would be preferred that you look at the team as a whole)

We would love to hear feedback and why you chose one team over another. Feel free to comment, ask questions, criticize, etc.

It was tough voting against Batman, Spidey and Holmes, but Indy, Sparky and Bailey made it a dead heat for me. And then the presence of Bueller? ... Bueller? ... Bueller? clinched it.

Cardsfan. More of my personal favorites, even though I love Batman and Spidey, along with Bourne and the Bride.

something about having Hit Girl and Dirk Diggler right next to each other made me vote for Tarantino

Tarantino has The Bride.
Cardsfan111 has George Bailey.

But Cardsfan111 also has a Shawshank character and Ferris Bueller and various other people I can't stand.

So Tarantino gets it.

cardsfan111 kept stealing my damn picks so he gets my vote. And Spider-man is a winy bitch who needs to slap a goldenpalace.com logo on his costume so he can pay his damn rent.

Cardsfan, No way is Tarantino advancing with one of the biggest miscast in history in Matt Damon/Jason Bourne.

Re: DVDTalk Draft Round 2 (Tarantino vs cardsfan111)

Tarantino
1. Batman - (pretty bland as a movie character, often overshadowed by the villains)
2. Leon + (Mathilda would have been a better choice)
3. Beatrix "The Bride" Kiddo +
4. Jason Bourne +
5. Spiderman - (I like the movies, but the character was pretty boring, and outright goofy in the third movie)
6. Mindy Macready/Hit-Girl + (she was on my own short list -- great character)
7. Dirk Diggler + (I didn't like the movie too much, but the character is interesting)
8. Rocky Balboa +
9. Sherlock Holmes +
10. Martin Riggs + (more for the first movie than the latter three)

Total: : 8

cardsfan111
1. Dr. Henry "Indiana" Jones, Jr. + (great character)
2. Superman +
3. Ellis Boyd "Red" Redding +
4. Anton Chigurh + (fantastic villain)
5. Annie Wilkes +
6. Willy Wonka + (the Depp portrayal almost killed this one)
7. Clark W. Griswold + (one of the few funny roles Chase has ever done)
8. Ferris Bueller +
9. Lt. Frank Drebin +
10. George Bailey +

Total: : 10 (perfect score!)

Winner: cardsfan111

Re: DVDTalk Draft Round 2 (Tarantino vs cardsfan111)

I'm a Bat-fan, and have found something to appreciate about every cinematic incarnation (yes, even Clooney's). He's really the most versatile character in American fiction, with room for everything from camp to suspense, from innocent do-gooder to tortured avenger. I also loved Leon--my second favorite movie assassin after Julian from The Matador--and The Bride. Tarantino's other list fails to resonate much with me, though I considered drafting Sherlock Holmes until I realized I like him more as a literary character.

I love Superman as a comics character, but have found him largely uninteresting as a cinematic character, Christopher Reeve's charisma notwithstanding. Indiana Jones is fun character, and I like Ferris Bueller. Never cared for the National Lampoon movies, or Chevy Chase in general, so Clark Griswold isn't a plus for me. Ditto for The Naked Gun features, though I like Leslie Nielsen. And I hated what Gene Wilder did with Willy Wonka; I prefer Depp's more mercurial performance.

Tarantino gets the nod.

Another nod for Cardsfan! Diggler's inclusion in Tarantino's list left me quizzical whereas, cardsfan's list is solid on all points.
