SALT LAKE CITY – Former child television star Gary Coleman is in critical condition near his Utah home, a hospital spokeswoman said Thursday.
Utah Valley Regional Medical Center spokeswoman Janet Frank said Coleman, 42, was admitted to the Provo facility on Wednesday but she couldn't release any other details.
Coleman lives in Santaquin, which is 55 miles south of Salt Lake City.
The actor is best known for his stint on TV's "Diff'rent Strokes," which aired from 1978 to 1986.
In February, Coleman suffered a seizure on the set of "The Insider."
A telephone message left for Coleman's Utah attorney was not immediately returned Thursday.
Coleman has lived in Utah since 2005, when he came here to star in the movie "Church Ball," a comedy based on basketball leagues formed by members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He met his wife, Shannon Price, on the movie set and married her in 2007.
Coleman has had a string of financial and legal problems, in addition to continuing ill health from the kidney disease he suffered as a child. Coleman has had at least two kidney transplants and has ongoing dialysis.
Last fall, Coleman had heart surgery that was complicated by pneumonia, his attorney Randy Kester has said.
In February, Coleman pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor criminal mischief charge related to an April 2009 domestic violence incident at his home.

Boy, this just reminds me that Avenue Q is going to be a real drag when he's dead. Just won't be the same.
I hope he recovers. He deserves some good fortune.

TMZ is reporting he is currently on life support;
Gary Coleman is on life support and has been unconscious since yesterday, this according to the actor's rep.
We're told doctors have determined that Coleman suffered a brain hemorrhage on Wednesday -- which is what "most likely" caused Gary to fall.

Come on, man. The world don't move to the beat of just one drum. What might be right for you might not be right for some.

This news saddens me. I know he was hard to deal with in his later years, but I feel bad because life beat him up pretty badly and he never got a chance to rebound.

Poor little guy, that show became the poster guide for how child stars can get fucked up.

RIP. Met him once, and my brother used to work for him doing light construction. From what I understand, he was a nicer guy than given credit for, but also had cards stacked against him more than most. Same age as me. :O

Then again, some people don't need to suffer all of that to be 'miserable little bastards'.
He had a rough life and I hope that he's found some kind of peace....

RIP Gary Coleman. That's sad especially since he, Dana Plato and Todd Bridges all lived pretty miserable lives post-Diff'rent Strokes.
