Walking quite gracefully over that taxi. I also heard there is a complete seasons boxset coming out at the same time too? And I'm wondering why they are making fans wait a half a year after the final episode airs. The last season 7 came out quickly after the season ended.

I'll be in for this eventually having not watched any of the final season as it's aired. I'll be patient, waiting on the inevitable price drop.

Because season 7 completed production 4 months early when they resumed production after the writer's strike. That's why it was released a week after it aired.

Season 8 barely finished production less than 1 month ago and they probably need the summer to put the DVD/BR together along with getting Kiefer and the cast to participate in the extras.

The season came back strong somewhere in the middle, as it became clear that this would be the last year. It's back in fine form now.

Part of me likes the cover art, although I can recognize that it is a little goofy.

Count me in when they release a complete series set.

I started and quit too. Season 8 is probably my least favorite season of them all. I've seen every episode except for the last half of season 8. I have been told what has happened so I can watch the series finale this Monday. I don't know if I want to buy season 8. Honestly my favorite seasons were the first 3. I sold my season 7 BD recently and I'm thinking about selling seasons 4-6 soon.

Re: Twenty Four (24) -- The Final Season -------> December 7, 2010

IMO, Season 8 has been comparable to Season 3.

Bad 1st half with plots that went nowhere and a bunch of extraneous characters and now a solid action-packed 2nd half with a focused story arc. I actually think that Season 8 has surpassed Season 3 quality-wise.

I'm definitely picking up the DVD to conclude my collection of the series. Since I recently upgraded to HDTV a little less than 1 year ago, if the Blu Ray for the complete series has additional extras, then I might consider a double dip in the future depending on the price.

A serialized show like 24 is tough to re-visit on DVD after you've seen every episode. I've re-visited a few of my previous 7 sets to check out the extras and memorable scenes/episodes occassionally.

I'll be tempted to buy the complete series set if its coming out at the same time as the final season dvd.

The first two-thirds of the season were very weak, with no compelling villains or new supporting characters, and plot lines that had already been done, and done better, two or three times earlier in the series.

Spoiler:
The series picked up after they knew they were being cancelled but they did so at the expense of what little credibility they already had left. Turning the President into a dimwitted dupe for slimy ex-President Logan was the last gasp.

This. I will be in once the price drops, as I still have the entire season sitting on the tivo.

Actually I think those episodes had been written even before they knew they were being cancelled I seem to remember reading that the writers were waiting to write the last 2 episodes until they found out if they were coming back or not.

That's correct up until then (early April) there was a possibility of it returning for a 9th season. Once FOX passed, then they wrote episode 23 and 24 as a series finale.

I'd like to imagine that Jimmy Fallon and Queen Latifa are in that cab.

It is nice artwork.

As for why it's being released in December, simple. People buying it for the Holidays.

It's a nice idea, but Kiefer's knees are at different levels! If you spend too much time looking at it, it becomes clear that this needs to go back to the workshop for a bit more tinkering or forever be enshrined on Photoshop Disasters.

Aha, you're right. Didn't catch that. That does knock the artwork down a bit (although as you said, it's a good idea)...

I'm in. Although I'm surprised this isn't coming out sooner, I thought that the season 7 DVD came out two days after it wrapped its season.

Confirmation that there will be a Complete Series Set, but not entirely clear on when it will be available.

EDIT: What I'll probably do is pick up Season 8 on DVD just to finish out my collection and then The Complete Series on Blu-ray when it is cheap during one of those TV on DVD sales on Amazon.

That would be nice if they released the whole series on BD with some new features.

I'd just take Season 1 on Blu. I can live with the rest in SD.

Re: Twenty Four (24) -- The Final Season -------> December 7, 2010

sold off the season sets I had a while ago because I knew this would get a complete collection release; that and I was at the time thinking of getting blu ray which I now have.

When it hits a decent price point I'll pick up the Complete Collection and revisit it. My wife has never actually seen the show so it'll be cool to check it out then.

I'd prefer season 3 on BD, my favorite season out of them all

Exactly what I did. I started doing that for Prison Break and Lost. Still waiting for something on Prison Break...

24 was the first TV show I actually really followed and got the DVD's. I cannot wait for a complete collection. So pumped.
