Glee - The Complete First Season ---> 9/14/2010
'Glee,' the international phenomenon that has conquered Nielsen ratings and Billboard charts will be yours to own on Sept. 14.
Besides the 22 episodes in this seven-disc set, the first season set includes extended episodes, sing-along karaoke, a behind-the-scenes look at 'The Power of Madonna' episode, 'Glee' makeovers, never-before-seen 'Sue's Corner' segments and a dance tutorial.
The first 13 episodes were released on DVD in December, but this set includes this spring's back nine episodes. Wait, you already bought the first 13 episodes? So did we, but you can get a 'Gleebate' of $10.00 when you mail in your proof of purchase. Go to www.gleebatedvd.com after June 1 for more details.
The DVD set has a suggested retail price of $69.99 and the Blu-ray for $89.99.

I expected this to be high. If only due to the music-clearance issues. I'll still grab it. One of the best shows to come along in quite awhile.

I finally got a chance to see a couple of episodes. Cute, but not sure I'd drop money for a season of it. Unless we get a mispriced sale of it in the future or it be very cheap, I'll probably skip this one.

To compare with other Fox BDs; Firefly has an SRP of $89.99 as well, but there have been (way more than numerous) opportunities to snag it at $39.99 seven months after its release.

The MSRP is definitely high because of the music clearance issues.

Isn't music now handled when the shows are being shot since it's obvious a DVD/BD release will come?

Keep in mind, the 1st release only had 13 episodes, hence the MSRP and sale prices were alot less. Now the full 22 episode set has alot more music and probably more expensive music, especially with the Madonna themed episode.

Obviously not...take a look at "My Name Is Earl", a recent example of a show which had music replacement on DVD/BD, even though you would have thought they would have made sure to get the licensing straight for home video while it was being made...

You got to be kidding me!!!!!
I paid about $30 for the DVD set after Christmas, now they want me to pay another $50 (Sale price 1st week $60 DVD - $10 = $50) for the final 9 shows.
So that mean I will be paying $30 + $50 = $80
NO WAY! This is a rip. They should have told us that the whole season set was coming. I thought the 2nd half would come out in a smaller set, just like the one in Dec 2009.
What a shaft.
We love the show, but not this way.

^^ Well you are getting the full 22 episode season plus additonal bonus material in this set. You need to read the site www.tvshowsondvd.com. There was already news back when the 1st 13 episode set came out that a full season set was going to be released eventually.
The only reason why they released a 13 episode Volume 1 set was because the episodes were already shot and completed last summer and once they got a full season, they wanted to use it to get new fans into the show and promote the spring episodes (since there was a super long hiatus) Plus, it helped that the release came out close to the Holidays.

A $10 Rebate is actually kind of insulting to those of us that got Volume One when it came out. No one got that set for only $10 and so the rebate is only half of the money we actually put down for the first set.
I'd like to take advantage of the rebate offer, but I just can't bring myself to cut the packaging. They really should figure out a way to have the proofs of purchase in such a way that if your remove them you aren't cutting a piece of the package off and leaving it looking incomplete.

High cost of music + high replay value for me so I'll be buying. I know some people won't pay more than $20 for a TV season, but I love the show and want to support it.
Yes, that's what I was going to mention

^^ I agree, I don't mind spending the money either for this set. There is very high replay value and terrific covers of alot of great songs.
FOX spent some $$$$ to put together a great scripted show with good music and a solid ensemble cast, I will definitely support the show and the great work everyone behind the scenes did for it.

It's not their fault you guys couldn't wait. Everyone who read anything about this show knew a full season set was coming. It's not like they hid that fact. They straight up announced it when they put the press release for the half-set out. That set was strictly for getting new viewers into the show. It was never meant to be a comprehensive collection or the first half of some two-package, one-season set.

Umm...according to the FOX press release on tvshowsondvd.com, the Blu-ray is $69.99 and the DVD is $59.98. Those other prices you saw were Canadian ($89.99 and $69.98, respectively)

Not to mention the fact that Amazon did and still does have a Season One, Volume Two up as an unannounced title.
I don't really care either way, as I was going to pick up Volume Two if there was one and the Complete Season, but I understand where some are probably frustrated and it wasn't for a lack of awareness or impatience.
And the fact still remains that a $10 Rebate is insufficient to offset the double-dipping.

I convinced my wife not to buy Volume One when it came out on DVD, since we both knew there would eventually be a full Season One set on Blu-ray. She really wanted to get that DVD.
Even still, I was expecting them to announce a Volume Two set as well as a full Season One set. If I had bought the Volume One set, I'd be pretty pissed off, too.

Also, over at tvshowsondvd there was a news item about there not being a volume 2 set, and only a complete season set, published in the middle of november. A month and a half before the release of the first dvd set. http://www.tvshowsondvd.com/news/Gle...Volume-2/12996

Well, as glad as I am that I won't have to pay $90 for the Blu, it still is pricey. I understand that the music licenses are the reason, and I would rather have that than replacement music, but still. It just makes it harder to purchase, even with the usual discount at the retailers (although maybe we'll get lucky; FYE and Amazon both have Season 2 of True Blood on Blu for $39.99 on release week, with an MSRP of $79.99. Perhaps we could see that here too...).
