The Vampire Diaries -- Season Finale -- "Founder's Day" -- 05/13/10

Vampire Diaries

Synopsis:

Spoiler:
Founder's Day has finally arrived, and everyone is busy with last-minute preparations for floats and fireworks. Stefan (Paul Wesley) is uncomfortable with Damon's (Ian Somerhalder) new attitude toward Elena (Nina Dobrev), but Elena is more concerned about repairing her relationship with Jeremy (Steven R. McQueen). Jeremy is worried about Anna (guest star Malese Jow), but not sure he's on board with her latest plan for the future. While Caroline (Candice Accola) is enjoying her day as Queen of the celebration, she also tries to help Matt (Zach Roerig) and Tyler (Michael Trevino) get their friendship back on track. Finally, although Damon and Alaric (Matt Davis) do their best to stop him, Johnathan Gilbert (guest star David Anders) sets a plan in motion that brings Founder's Day to an end amid chaos, destruction and death.

Marcos Siega directed the episode written by Bryan Oh & Andrew Chambliss

IMO, this was easily one of the best new dramas (serial) from this past Fall. I know this genre didn't appeal to everyone here, but hopefully it will gain a bigger following next season.

Not a bad season finale, they left the door open for some more familial vampire angst for next season.

Sark the Vampire Slayer has a nice ring to it.

Still haven't seen wolfboy come into his own, will have to wait for a full moon, I guess.

Anna

Nina Dobrev looked 10x hotter with her hair done the way it was in this episode.

Nice twist with Catherine at the end.

So they killed off one of the most popular new characters (and a female vamp to boot)? Very lame. I liked her. Why couldn't they kill off the blonde and her BF.

I thought it was a little funny that Damon is talking to the mayor going "..wait you're not a vampire, what are you?" and as I'm thinking -Yeah what is he? Guess we find out next season..- then two seconds later the mayor gets killed..

oh, maybe that's not a next season plot point after all. lol..

then again no one is ever really dead on shows like this.. They could bring everyone back in some way.. The witch brings them back to life, some other evil whatever brings them back.. They are dead, but we see flash backs or whatever. Come on, it's tv, they hardly ever really kill anyone off 100%..

that being said, pretty good season ending ep.. Over all this series is way, way better then I thought it would be. Much darker in tone and just an all around good vampire show..

He's werewolf, like his son who crashed the car.

Even though I was expecting Katherine to show up, it still threw me for a loop.

Good finale. I was hoping witchy-pooh would be the one taking the dirt nap instead of Anna. She was cute and cute girls are always welcome on my TV.

Please, they won't kill the only African American character on the show.

Who the hell decided it would be better to kill off Anna instead of Bonnie, or the blonde, or the blond's bf?

Re: The Vampire Diaries -- Season Finale -- "Founder's Day" -- 05/13/10

Bonnie definitely needs to stay, her laying down the law for Stefan was long overdue. Damon being allowed to kill and abuse anyone he wanted while having Stefan and Elena basically do nothing made them look like assholes, and now there's a legitimate reason for Damon having to stop murdering people. Of course it comes as he rediscovers his feelings, so he probably would've stopped killing from now on anyway, but at least it's out there now.

Anna dying was pretty shitty though, she was trying to stop the vampire attack on the town and that's how she gets thanked. Jeremy just can't catch a break with women, can he?

Ugh, so frustrating. Bonnie needs to go and the blond and her BF are wastes of screen time. Anna and Damon were the bests things about the second half of this season and now they killed her off. Frustrating.

Good ending although the cliffhanger is going to make it a long wait until new episodes. I had no clue it was Katherine until she attacked John.

Sucks about Anna getting killed. I liked her character.

I agree, good ending! I knew that wasn't Elena the minute the aunt said "you better come inside". I turned to my husband and said "you watch, that isn't Elena!" *lol*

I find it a little hard to believe that Damon wouldn't be able to tell that's Catherine. He couldn't sense SOMETHING to tip him off that she's a vampire? I guess they don't do the "cold hands" thing in this show.

Made no sense since she was carrying her dress from the parade (she told Stephan she had to go back for it). So was that Kathrine as well? When we saw 'real' Elena she had no dress. Did Katgerine play both of them?

No Katherine stole her stuff. When Elena was talking to Stephan at the end she said something about her stuff being gone.

Finale was well done.

Yeah they were already "redeeming" Damon's character even before Bonnie's threat.

What I don't understand is why Bonnie's great-grandwhatever was working for Katherine in the first place. As the show makes it seem like witches are far more powerful than vampires.

Yeah I enjoyed the season finale, and sad to see Anna go... Sure the chick playing Bonnie is the worst actress on TV, but her character is needed, and I kind of like the blonde. I think Stefan did sense something was up with Elena/Katherine.

Re: The Vampire Diaries -- Season Finale -- "Founder's Day" -- 05/13/10

Caught this today before I went to work.

Very good finale to a solid 1st season.

I have to admit, I was caught off guard with the Katherine twist at the end.

When did Tyler turn into a Vampire? Was it at that party when he made out with Melinda Clarke's character? And I didn't get why the Mayor's ears where bleeding after the device was activated, yet he wasn't a Vampire?

I'm actually surprised that they have made Damon somewhat likeable and an ally to Stefan and Elena.
