the VACATION films - your favorite Griswold children
I thought Ethan Embry from Vegas Vacation is my second favorite "Rusty," but nobody can top Anthony Michael Hall from the original.
Dana Barron was fine as "Audrey," also from the original.
I'll never understand why the felt they had to get "new kids" for every installment.

The first ones definitely.
I'm going to guess they couldn't get AMH for Europe and decided it would be funny to go ahead and completely change the sister as well and thought it even funnier when Christmas Vacation and Vegas were pitched so they could switch the actors again.

The kids from Vegas Vacation. Marisol Nichols is smoking hot and Ethan Embry is usually pretty good. I liked that they were given their own storylines with stuff to do.

I had to go with the original, but I'm with you regarding Marisol. She was the only thing that made Season 6 bearable.

I like Rusty from the HomeAway Hotel commerical.
Just kidding...the originals are the best. Although props to Jason Lively from European Vacation...he was a pretty good Rusty.

Vacation:
Rusty - AMH hits the perfect balance of looking up to his dad and at the same time being a step ahead of him at times.
Audrey - I had the biggest crush on Dana Barron when I was a kid. She still looks pretty good in her 40s. She does a fine job in the movie but doesn't to be given as much to do as AMH.
European Vacation:
Rusty - Jason Lively does a fantastic job here. He channels AMH's Rusty but adds that teenager spark to it. It's the only Griswold kid transition that actually feels like continuity from the previous film.
Audrey - I love her commitment to the role but still feel she's somewhat miscast in the role.
Christmas Vacation:
I like Galecki and Lewis, but I just didn't feel either of them in these roles. But this movie always felt like an anomaly in the Vacation series and more like a spinoff than a true sequel.
Vegas Vacation:
Really good casting here. Both Embry and Nichols are likable here, and huge time gap aside, I can believe them as some future version of the characters established in the original.

I do often wonder if they'll ever do a new Vacation movie and recast the original guys, now that they've grown up.
