Didn't fox just put out about 10 of these a few weeks ago. I might have bought most of them (Best Buy had them for like $12) if they came in a Blu-ray case instead fo a DVD keepcase.

Most of the ones I've seen are available in Blu-ray cases, too. A few of the studios have been doing that for a while. Do you have any specific titles?

There is another thread about this, in which I lamented this very same practice. But the point is clearly to entice SD-DVD buyers to "future-proof" their collection, not for existing Blu-Ray owners to nab discs with DVDs.

Sorry I didn't see the other thread. I like to buy Blu-ray/DVD releases, just so I have DVD copies for all of the other players in the house. I just hate them in DVD keepcases.

Most of the ones I saw had been released on Blu before, but not with standard DVD's packed with them.

Wee bit impractical from a packaging standpoint.

Some of these Fox/MGM titles include RoboCop, Tim Burton's Planet of the Apes remake, Bulletproof Monk,
Out of Time, Rocky, The Terminator, The Usual Suspects, Windtalkers and others.

I get the impression that doing this is also another way for Fox to clear out existing stock. Predator is one of the ones they did this with, and that's getting a new release in June...

I think you are confusing this with a DVD and a BD shrink-wrapped together. The OP is talking about releases in DVD-style cases that contain both a DVD and a BD of the film (much like the Disney releases).

I saw a whole display of these at Best Buy over the weekend. I was with some friends who only casually buy blu-rays/dvds and they thought they were stupid.

Out Of Time is in a DVD case which has the DVD + Blu-ray Disc.

Please, I'd rather have a BD and a Beta Max version too or a copy of the film on 16mm film. What's this DVD crap??
