As director Marc Forster previously pointed out, the release of "Quantum of Solace" on DVD and Blu-Ray last year was just the first round and fans should expect a double-dip release later.

That time has now come with news that a 'Definitive Edition' two-disc DVD of Daniel Craig's second outing as James Bond is being scheduled for release on 28th July 2010.

The new souped-up edition will also feature lenticular packaging.

As with the first release, Fox will distribute the updated title.

There is no word yet on what the special features will be, but fans should expect cast & crew commentaries (missing from the first release) as well as additional behind-the-scenes content.

Perhaps the most interesting possibility though, is the inclusion of the original ending of the film that Forster cut for theatrical release. In it, Bond is seen to confront Mr White and the shadowy Guy Haines at a Quantum-owned mansion near London.

I never understood all the hate this sequel got, I kinda enjoyed the hell out of it. Of course, it doesn't compare to CR, but that movie is pretty much a minor masterpiece of the genre.

I'll entertain picking up the deluxe edition, but certainly will at least Netflix it if there is an alternate cut.

QoS is better and better everytime I am watching it.

I've bought 1DVD barebones release just to minimalize costs, and now, I am looking forward to get this new edition.

Ha, well, when you put it that way...

I've never been a fan of the 007 series, but don't most of them have some pretty ridiculous plot lines/elements? I don't remember the plot being that bad, but I haven't seen this movie in at least a year.

As far as performances, I think Craig is just as fun here as he was in CR, but I won't argue that this movie comes close to being as great as CR. And I like Mathieu Amalric's odd, slimy performance, but that took some warming up to.

I was expecting it to be awful when I finally rented it based on word of mouth, but I just really found myself enjoying it. It's like I couldn't help myself, I was having a good time.

It's not near the best Bond film, but it's far from the worst, and I've been holding off a purchase waiting for this edition. I'll be getting a copy.

Couldn't agree more, (except for performance, Craig was still great given the material). No surprise to me that people here love it though. Instantly forgettable villain & horribly filmed action made more dissapointing given how great the previous film was directed.

I've always viewed CR and QoS as one long movie. CR has all the background, character development and build-up, QoS has Bond out for revenge, kicking ass and taking names, for 2 hours.

I find it even worse back to back with Casino Royale, because it feels like a cheap imitation with a godawful script and some of the shittiest editing I've ever seen.

I didn't mind this movie but I already bought the first edition when it came out so I kind of doubt I'll upgrade it. At least not right away maybe if it gets cheap eventually.

Is anyone actually sure that this is a us release on that date. MI6 is after all a British based james bond fansite, there is a good chance they are talking about the release date for the UK re release.
just take a look at the date 28th july 2010 besides being in the british date format. if you look at the calender you will see july 28th is a wed not tuesday.

People seem to mention that the script was bad or editing was bad. I don't see that at all. I liked the story of "Big business underworld crime", and how entire countries can be manipulated for the benefit of the criminals.

I liked that the main villain was not some over the top villain, just a smart criminal who is a bit crazy. I feel that this is possibly what real high level criminals would be like. I thought the action was top notch. Its a bond film and I think that it did a great job of doing what its supposed to do, which is entertain me.
