The Office -- "The Cover-Up" -- 05/06/10

The Office

Synopsis:

Spoiler:
When Michael concludes that his girlfriend (Amy Pietz) is cheating on him, he enlists Dwight to snoop. Elsewhere, Andy receives a customer complaint and grows frustrated when none of his fellow staffers seem to care.

Episode 24 of 26

I finally got caught up with this earlier this week. Loved the last 2 episodes.

Amy Pietz (Donna) is gorgeous. I know most Office fans like Michael with Holly, but I enjoy them pairing him with a hottie who is way out of his league.

BTW, she will appear in at least 1 more episode.

Great episode tonight, Amy Pietz is gorgeous. Loved everyone ducking and hiding when donna and Micheal looked up at the window. Loved Pam Diving to the ground.

Darrel's face after the printer caught on fire. Hilarious.

Michael being the other man. I didn't see that one coming.

I LOL'd at that line, and when Darryl (Darnell ) was making Andy talk in a high voice.

Good episode, with a surprising ending.

Meh episode. Creed and Darryl were the best parts.

Probably the best episode of the season so far. Michael was just the right amount of crazy. Everyone else was on as well. Who wrote this one?

One of the best of the season. Loved the Dwight P.I. stuff. And Michael always makes me laugh. The temp even had a few lines in this one. Laughed a good 15 times. 5 is about average.

Really? I was kind of thinking all along (even before this episode, for some reason) that Michael was the other man.

Overall, it was good, not great. Creed and Darnell (lol) were the best parts. I don't like Gabe at all, but the faces he makes (like the one he made after giving Andy a $5 gift card) are hilarious.

"How much to you charge?"
"$100.00 plus expenses."
"I'll give you $50. Money's no object"

Funny episode. The last couple have been really good, but overall it can't make up for a lackluster season.

A couple of questions though. If Donna's married, how come A) her Facebook page didn't say this when Pam looked it up and B) what the hell is she doing having an affair with a guy who's followed around by cameras 24/7?

I know plenty of people who don't post details about their marital/relationship status on their Facebook pages, so this doesn't surprise me too much.

"So there I am, minding my own business, and Darnell offers me three bucks. All I gotta do is walk by Andy and go like this. [makes throat cutting gesture] Darnell's a chump. I would've done it for anything. I've done a lot more for a lot less."

True, but his second point has merit. (Of course, it has merit with regard to a lot of what goes on in The Office.)

A better question is why did Darryl film Andy's printer fire demonstration, when the documentary crew was there filming as well?

While the documentary aspect is clearly only paid lip service at this point, I would imagine that the documentary crew owns and controls access to all of their own footage. If you want to control the footage you have to film it yourself.

I lost it when Michael said "I'd poop my pants."

Absolutely. The entire documentary conceit stopped making sense years ago, especially the obvious two and three camera shots. They expect you to suspend a lot of disbelief with the documentary thing.

Overall, I thought this episode was okay. Not great by any means, but not as cringeworthy has some of this season has been.

Re: The Office -- "The Cover-Up" -- 05/06/10

I know many people on here thought Michael landing a hot piece like Donna was unrealistic, but it looks like the writers managed to address it.

I wasn't really surprised by it, Michael's women always have some kind of issue, and Donna was too hot, too interested in sex, and too together to be on the market.

LOL It seems that just about every Office episode with a subplot gets a Web site now. Here's the latest, based on this episode: http://www.schrutepi.com/

I think i'm finding the opening bits to be the highlight of most episodes these days.

I wonder if we've seen the last of the smoking copier(s)? Gabe's attitude smelled like a cover-up to me. The beginning of a new plot thread?
