American Idol Top 6, April 27/28, Shania Twain
It’s Shania Twain week at American Idol. The final 6 contestants will be choosing a song from a list of 50 Shania Twain songs as shown as being available at iTunes.
Here is the list of the songs, in spoilers due to the length:
In other news, Lee Dewyze has a new tattoo on his right arm, the one with the stars:
And Siobhan Magnus also has said that she has a new tattoo though I have not seen any pictures.
As far as Wednesday goes, here is what I saw with regard to the guest performers:
The American Idol finale will be on Wednesday, May 26, at 8 p.m.

Does this mean we'll be hearing "You should have picked a better song," two dozen times?

I wasn't really looking forward to this one but i was pleasantly surprised.
Didn't get the judges criticism of Crystal.I thought she was still one of the best of the night.

Still thought Crystal was still leagues above everyone else. (Looking at the list, I'm surprised she didn't do "God Bless the Child.")
All Siobhan did was emulate the original and toss in a annoying screeeeeeeeeech.
Aaron was his usual dull self, and Big Mike turned in another pussy performance.
Casey was okay, Lewe was a little less okay.
I'd loved to have seen Norman Gentle do "Man, I Feel Like a Woman."

I have never been more out of touch with the judges than after Siobhan tonight. I don't know what they heard, because she was fucking terrible.

Lee DeWyze - nice soulful rendition of the song, and he came alive on the stage, and projected good stage presence.
Michael Lynche - I dunno, wasn't quite feeling it from Big Mike tonight, then again, still not a fan, and he didn't win me over with this
performance. Thought he lost the melody of the song, perhaps too much falsetto, just needs some more oomph from his lower registers.
Casey James - Kinda boring and one-note-ish of a performance (goat-ish vibratto in full swing), but he was going for a bit more on the tender side.
Crystal Bowersox - Too safe of a song, too swishy and cutesy. Eh.
Aaron Kelly - actually one of Aaron's most effective and involving performances of the season. But he really needs to work on holding the mic, and not wrap his pinkie under it.
Siobhan Magnus - style-wise, it was a miss, and then there's that stupid long screaming note. Sometimes her vocals don't sound full at all, almost disappearing at times. It was average and I wasn't feeling her performance at all.

I'll probably turn this on for the first time in years to check out Shania and the girl everyone thinks is easily the best of the bunch.
I'm guessing Shania still looks better than Nikki.

Lee DeWyze - Solid performance for what it was. He's really found his voice though, I think he's very marketable.
Michael Lynche - Boring, pointless, goodbye and this time no save to keep you here.
Casey James - Bet his voice has ever sounded, back to the Jealous Guy type performance, really helped himself.
Crystal Bowersox - She can do a lot of things but sing convincing country isn't one of them. Doesn't matter, she could have farted and walked off stage and still be safe.
Aaron Kelly - I personally don't like him, but he's pretty incredible for 16. He's a sleeper.
Siobhan Magnus - Song was about attitude and she showed none of it. The scream was off pitch and for some unknown reason she channel You're Gonna Love Me at the end.
Bottom Three:
Mike
Siobhan
Aaron
Bottom Two:
Mike Siobhan
Going Home:
Mike
Order of Elimination:
Mike
Siobhan
Casey
Aaron
Lee
Crystal (winner)

They should have widened the selection to "Country Music" instead of sticking with Shania's mediocre songbook.

I'm surprised they didn't call this "Shania Twain-Wreck Week"! LOL couldn't resist!
The only ones I cared for tonight were Crystal and Casey.
Bored with the rest, but Sibohan did do better than the last couple of times.
Anybody notice Shania kind of sounds like Betty White when she speaks? Other than that, she's still hot!

Please, don't tempt them into starting "Fart Night"! I hear they read this forum for marketing ideas!

I really wanted to fast forward through the end of Siobhan's song, as it hurt my ears. However, my husband insisted on waiting to see if she threw in the big note at the end. Yep, she sure did. And, DVD Josh is exactly right- she was channeling "You're Gonna Love Me" at the end. Awful.
Pretty mediocre episode all around, really.
