Is there any way to register the remote control for a ps3 with out a controller? It's an older 40GB version (if that matters). Thanks for any help.

I don't know anyone with a ps3 who's nearby. I think I'll take it up to Gamestop, they'll help me (didn't think of this until after I posted, sorry). Thanks anyway.

Appreciate the offer. I'm all set now. The guy at Gamestop went in the back, got a controller with a cable attached, activated the remote and sent me on my way.

My kid left it in the basement when he moved out (it had stopped working and he bought an 80GB). The only other things in the box were the power cord and composite cable, he took everything else.

I called recently and asked him what was wrong with it. He said it loads discs but they don't spin. Various places all said that problem is due to the laser being burned out. I bought a new laser with the deck for $59 shipped and replaced it myself. Works like new
