Isn't a release date on Amazon kind of worthless if there's been literally no other indication that this title is coming out? Not trying to threadcrap, just saying not to put much stock in this date unless you hear something from someone other than Amazon.

The Harryhausen box set must have sold well enough for them to okay this release. I hope we get the rest of them sooner than later.

Yes! I will definitely be getting this on Day 1.
I finally bought the Harryhausen Set a month or so ago (finally fell into my price range) and was hoping for this to drop on Blu

Yep, and they're all magnificent. Really hope Sony hasn't given up digibooks - it's been a while since they've done one. If any of their upcoming catalogue titles are deserving of one, it's this.

Sony digibooks > Warner digibooks, no tacky back cover glued on. Agree that this title is more than worthy of getting the deluxe treatment.

This is fantastic. I hope they tack on a few features...I don't have my DVD handy right now, but I think it was barebones...maybe a trailer but that's it.
Really looking forward to getting this. I second the nomination for all of the man's remaining work to be on BD. I think it can be stated (without much exaggeration) that Ray Harryhausen is one of the most influential filmmakers of his generation, considering his impact not only on animators and special effects artists but on directors and technicans of all stripes.

The only other extra is a John Landis interview with Harryhausen. Checking out the back of the DVD case, I had to laugh at the breathless advertising of "INTERACTIVE MENUS!". Ah, the early years of DVD.

Not only barebones, but a WS/FF flipper. The Criterion LD was loaded, it'd be nice if Sony could grab some/most of that + maybe some new stuff.

I am glad Sony has moved on to $24.99 list pricing now on catalog titles. They did it on a few late last year. I am happy this is a permanent move.
