RIP Dede Allen (film editor) (1923-2010)

I was shocked to hear this news:

http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20100418/...bit_dede_allen

One of the greatest film editors of all time, IMO. Sadly, we'll never see another film with her name on it.

Didn't know about her but I knew her work. RIP. Editors are sadly not well known as they should be.

Wow.

She did 'Night Moves', 'Little Big Man', 'The Missouri Breaks', and one of my favorite films of the last decade - 'Wonder Boys'. As well as other classics of course.

I didn't realize I was such a fan of her work.

She was quite well-known in the '70s and frequently interviewed by film magazines and the New York Times and such and often mentioned in the reviews. When I was a film student she even came to some classes in my college to speak. Not mine, though, for some reason, and I was very upset when I found out about it afterwards.
