viz media- blu-ray releases?
i have been looking on these forums a bit and i haven't seen anyone ask this question..., is there any news or rumblings about Viz Media finally joining the blu-ray format? I would like me some Death Note, or even Bleach and Naruto on blu-ray to be honest, and now they seem to be almost odd man out with even media blasters joining the format...

It's not happening anytime soon...

[...]One of the things that’s happening in the DVD or home video business at large is the impact of Blu-ray. Where’s Viz on releasing Blu-ray versions of its titles?
Again, we’re in the early stages of examining it in terms of the U.S. market potential. As you know we’re distributed by Warner Brothers. It has a very active and successful Blu-ray program. One of the challenges with Blu-ray is that it’s region-free. We really need to do our homework in terms of coordinating releases with Japan, with the licensors to get this right. New conversations are happening...

Get the Taiwan versions of both. I have them and found the PQ/AQ quite outstanding. It has English subs and, from what I've read, are direct ports from the Japanese BDs.

Are you referring to the movies, or the anime series? I have the movies on DVD, but only really care about upgrading the series.

I meant the movies (sorry, I should have been more specific).
Nevertheless, the Death Note movies in Taiwan BDs were released by Pony which is more reliable than other companies (like BitWel) which are releases upconverted dvds to BD.

I didn't even realize that Blu-rays are region free. I wonder how Funimation and others (like Bandai with the Eureka 7 movie) got around that with licensors (since reverse importation is usually the big issue)
