Horror Film Club (April 19th) - The Last House on Dead End Street

The Last House on Dead End Street (1977)

IMDB | Trailer | Review

Selected by EddieDingle

SYNOPSIS:
Spoiler:
In the winter of 1972, a young filmmaker named Roger Watkins began work on what is commonly referred to as the most vile and disgusting film ever made.
Under the pseudonym of Victor Janus, Watkins wrote, directed, produced, and starred in 'The Last House on Dead End Street'.

Roger Watkins stars as Terry Hawkins, a down and out pornographer, fresh out of prison.
Disgusted by the world around him, he begins work on a series of snuff films-targeting the very society that put him away. Lock your doors! Terry Hawkins is shooting his masterpiece at 'The Last House on Dead End Street'!

Long considered a lost film, 'Barrel Entertainment' has spared no expense in bringing the ultimate special edition of this 1970s grindhouse classic to your house.
To avoid fainting, keep repeating: "It's only a movie... Only a movie... Only a MOO-VAY!"

FUN FACTS: Due to the use of pseudonyms by everyone involved and the low quality of cameras and film stock...
rumors spread in New York's 42nd Street Grindhouse subculture that the film either actually depicted real murders, or that the film was the product of the Mexican mafia (owing to Roger Watkins pseudonym, "Janos", a municipality in the Mexican state of Chihuahua).
The film's distributor encouraged the rumors, which resulted in the film's gaining notoriety via word of mouth.

Spoiler tags are unnecessary in these discussion threads, so if you have yet to see the film BEWARE OF SPOILERS.

Is there someplace that people would recommend to see this film? I went to Netflix, but it doesn't have this film in stock. I looked at Amazon, and it appears that this disc is OOP. Suggestions?

Well, crap. I actually checked Netflix, saw it in my queue and assumed it was available -- completely missed the 'Availability Unknown' part.

And apparently YouTube has removed the video.

Anyway, I'll just keep this up for those that already have it and since the thread is always available and hopefully it'll resurface sometime soon. Sorry.

You suck Chad!

My OCD compells me to buy and watch every film in these DVDTalk Clubs.

Only new copy goes for $175 on Amazon. Good thing I'm getting a tax refund.

Just finished watching it and I think its terrible. Im sorry, I don't see any redeeming value to the movie, and these types of movies usually don't bother me. Just thought it was poorly made, and I couldn't get over the mistake I made of thinking the main character looked like Dwight K. Schrute.... kind of helped speed along the process.
