Here's the trailer for Q'orianka Kilcher's new film. It looks cheesy entertaining, but she looks awesome in it. It's ridiculous that we had to wait 6 years for another movie starring this talented actress. It's too bad that she's gonna be typecast for these roles.

I guess I'm interested to see what OHA and native Hawaiians think about the film, especially now since sovereign powers may be partially restored for Hawaiians. Maybe this will get the Kamehameha project back up and running.

Very interesting! I'd been pondering a way to outline a script based on the (successful) conspiracy to overthrow Kaiulani's aunt, Queen Liliʻuokalani, since I wrote a thesis paper on the subject. Obviously I was far too lazy to do it, but I'm glad this topic has managed to make a quality production.

There's a very good PBS American Experience episode on the topic called "Hawaii's Last Queen" that I recommend anyone see if you're interested in how Hawaii became annexed by the U.S.

'Princess Kaiulani' actress arrested at White House

WASHINGTON >> U.S. Park Police have identified a woman arrested for tying herself to a White House fence as actress Q'orianka Kilcher, who stars in the lead role in the film "Princess Ka'iulani."

Authorities say the 20-year-old Kilcher tied herself to the fence yesterday and her 41-year-old mother, Saskia, poured a black substance over her.

They told officials they were protesting a visit by the president of Peru. Q'orianka Kilcher's father is a Peruvian Indian.

Park Police spokesman Sgt. David Schlosser identified the mother, who's charged with defacing government property, and daughter, who's charged with disorderly conduct. Schlosser says they are expected to appear in D.C. Superior Court today.

A call to Kilcher's publicist was not immediately returned. Kilcher also starred as Pocahontas in the 2005 film, "The New World."
