Not this asshole again. Phantom Menace review was torturous enough.

Re: Epic Star Wars : The Clone Wars review in 9 parts

Being sick, I hung out on the couch and watched all of these just now. Regardless of whether or not you think he is funny, I feel this guy is spot on with all the reasons why the prequels rightfully left awful impressions. This guy is very good at analyzing how they were bad on so many different levels. They could have been so good. I waited so long for them, as did most of us. It seems like these video reviews should have been made a few years ago though. Enough time has past to kind of let go of the fact of how awful they were and just move on.

A very bad film never dies you know that. Especially when it's labeled with the excitement and imagination that Star Wars is known for.

Re: Epic Star Wars : The Clone Wars review in 9 parts

That was precious minutes of my life I'll never get back. As a defender of these films originally, time and perspective have made me realize they were a pointless endeavor. Outside of the incredible visuals and good action sequences, the acting and plodding nature of the way theses stories were told, makes me no longer want to watch them. They pale in comparison to the originals, in almost every way. The sad thing is there was so much potential. So many great actors. So much great material. All of it was wasted.

However, I'm not pathetic enough to continue whining about how these films were a disappointment, or claim Lucas raped my childhood. He never owed me anything to begin with, and he's responsible for giving me some of the greatest movie moments of my life. The guy who wasted his time making these reviews needs to get out and get laid. If he was trying be funny, he failed at that too.

Someone should probably edit the title of this thread to say Attack of the Clones rather than The Clone Wars.

Re: Epic Star Wars : The Clone Wars review in 9 parts

I only got a chance to see part 9 because that sort of sums the movie up, and this guy is dead on. Forget all the nitpicking about the midiclorians, or the fact that Uncle Owen owned C3PO for 10 years during Episode I & II, or that R2D2 can fly in the Prequels, but is a clunky droid in the Originals. Forget all that.

The Prequels have no soul, simply because I could give a rats ass about the characters. Luke, Leia, and Han you actually care about, you actually want to be one of them (I always wanted to be Luke). Luke, Leia, and Han have chemistry, their jokes actually work, and they were able to pull it off with some of George's cheesy lines too. There was drama in the originals that is just not there in the Prequels, and if the audience doesn't care about the characters, then the rest is just window dressing.

Seeing these reviews is the first time I have watched the Prequels for a few years now, and wow, 10 years later the movies have aged even worse then I thought.

Re: Epic Star Wars : The Clone Wars review in 9 parts

I'm impressed by how he finds bits in the "making of" documentaries on the film to back up his critique. That Lucas was making these prequels almost entirely as a business decision instead of an artistic decision seems all too true (Lucas basically surrendered to the Dark Side).

You completely missed the point of these Star Wars reviews.

The analysis being offered is quite cogent, and reveals great understanding of story and characterization.
The presentation is (hilariously) ironic.

That's been the case since Return Of The Jedi- and how I would love to see this guy getting around to reviewing that one.

I never really "LOL" when I read shit on dvdtalk, but I must say that your comment did make me smile and chuckle out loud a bit. Very nicely said......

I'm kinda shocked that he spent an hour and a half on the Episode II review, and didn't once mention the absolutely horrid "Anakin...Anakin...NOOOOOO" moment from Qui-Gon Ginny...

I think the best moment comes in Part 9 where he shows clips of Yoda from Empire and directly contrasts them with events in this film.

Part 5 had me rolling with the strikes Anakin had against him during his courtship with Padme.

Re: Epic Star Wars : The Clone Wars review in 9 parts

I loved how at one point, just to illustrate how bad Clones is, he's even surprised to be using one Element of Phantom Menace as a positive reference.

Loved it esp. with the special participation of the kidnapped hooker in the analysis as each review progressed.

Spoiler:
and then she gets away in the end!

Re: Epic Star Wars : The Clone Wars review in 9 parts

I actually like the prequels, but I have to admit I laughed my ass off with these reviews. Still, Avatar and the prequels aren't THAT bad.

This guy should take on something truly horrible. I would like to submit the following requests:

Batman and Robin
2012
10,000 B.C.
Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen
The Wicker Man
Ghostrider
The Fourth Kind

The prequels ARE truly horrible. I honestly put them below some of the films you mention--right into the movie gutter--if only because they were a bigger deal. The bigger they are, the harder they fall.

The best part for me about these reviews is that it's less nitpicking geeky elements, and more about developmental issues with filming, writing, and acting.
