"V" -- Spring Premiere -- "Welcome to the War" -- 03/30/10
Synopsis:
Spoiler:
Remember this show? It last aired November 24th...A little over 4 months ago. Anyways, I recall the opinions in this forum were very mixed. I enjoyed the 1st 4 episodes and I'm interested in seeing where they go.
8 new episodes are airing.
New showrunner was hired...Scott Rosenbaum. If your unfamiliar with him, he was an Executive Producer on Chuck (he worked on the episodes that are airing now) and also worked on The Shield.

I was excited to hear that Rosenbaum is the new showrunner moving forward.
He's been hyping up the 'premiere' on his Twitter page for the past couple weeks.

they'd better speed this up like they did with FF or I'm out next year if it gets picked up.

The speed is fine, it's just that they have managed the story really bad. And they have to leave the teen love story alone.
I think this show is dead but may watch since it's in my DVR.

Such a horrible way to schedule a show. Take a new series and air 4 episodes and then take months off. Not a good plan for a show to succeed.

I'm not sure how you could call the first four episodes slow. They had an entire season's worth of reveals in the pilot alone, and it was anonymous (on this board anyway) that the pacing was too fast.

Now I'm just trying to remember where they left off. I remember the one V 5th columnist's girlfriend/wife was pregnant (I assume she had an affair), the hot V getting the kid wrapped around her finger, some of the 5th Column stuff, and Anna getting a visa/passport. Not much else.

Yeah the massive V armada heading to earth at the end of episode 4 was pretty badass.
They actually aired a recap episode last week after Lost.
I also read that Rosenbaum says if you did not see the 1st 4 episodes, you should be able to watch episode 5 onwards without feeling totally lost.

I think the mistake they made is trying to distance themselves from the original "V" Creator, Kenneth Johnson. They even tried to get his name taken off the project as original creator.
They should have had links to the original with some of the original cast members.

That wasn't their original plan. A couple of the showrunners left and they had no clear direction for the show. You would have thought they would have figured this out before they created the new show.

After the 4 episodes aired, they replaced Scott Peters, the original showrunner, with Scott Rosenbaum.

That isn't entirely true. This was originally supposed to be a midseason series and they didn't start shooting the show until late September/early October, which makes sense for that type of scheduling. I believe ABC didn't like the original scripts for episode 5 onwards, so that forced them to shut down production for awhile and eventually they decided to only air 4 episodes while they re-worked the show.

I will give this show this week and next. If it doesn't re-kindle my interest, I'm done.
I will say I liked the original four for the most part, but the parts of it that crashed, burned as well. The whole "bliss" thing with Anna and the New Age music was one of the single cheesiest moments I've seen in a TV series, which I think says a lot.

Okay, but definitely lacking. The FX seemed kind of shoddy compared to the first few.
The last shot with Anna was good an freaky though!

I am enjoying it, but I am going to have to catch up with this show on DVD. Certainly looking forward to watching them all on DVD in a decent marathon, because there's stuff I feel I am missing out on for various reasons.

Just started here. I will give this show a lot of time and patience because I adore Elizabeth Mitchell and thought she stole the show as Juliet with a lot of good competition.
But I was enjoying it before it was pulled, certainly more than FF.
