Target Price Matching and Coupon Acceptance Policies, per Target
With so many people report ongoing issues with Target cashiers and managers making up the policies as they go along, and now with people reporting that corporate CSRs are also getting the policies wrong, I thought it was time to have these posted in a prominent place.
From the Target corporate website:
Target Price Matching Policy
Of note:
No "at manager's discretion" (as corporate CSRs are now telling people when they call) or any other such caveat. It's always a good idea to print out a copy of their policy and carry it with you whenever you're headed to Target for a potential price match and/or with coupons. Speaking of which...
Target Coupon Policy
It's a good idea to have a copy of this with you as well.
With these two printouts in hand, there should be no dispute from any cashier, customer service rep or manager as to what their own corporate policy is. (Of course, we all know that doesn't mean it will be smooth sailing for everyone from now on, but hopefully this will help alleviate a few headaches.)

Of note:
If you find an item in a competitor's printed ad that is priced lower than it is at your Target store, we will match the price.

Wonder how picky they will be for their exclusives or will they not even bother to question them.

Humorous that this is getting posted hours before the Toy Story deal goes active. I'll put odds on about noon before corporate issues a memo about stacking the TS coupons. They aren't going to be too happy if they see a lot of transactions where the customer walks out with $46 of Blu-Rays for $6.

I used to think price matching was a pretty neat idea until I thought about it and realized that if they're going to price match the store down the street why didn't I just buy it at the store down the street?
They should 110% price match (out-bid the competition) if they really want to sell me a DVD. -kd5-

From their website regarding price matching when using Target coupons:
Can I use coupons when price matching?
A guest can use coupons when price matching per Target's normal coupon policy. When the guests presents a coupon(s), these steps will be followed:
Manufacturer Coupons:
Manufacturer coupons will be applied after the price match is made.
Target Coupons:
Target coupons will be applied before the price match is made. If the competitor price is still lower than the price after the Target coupon has been deducted, the ad match can be adjusted to match the competitor's price.
Isn't this saying that Target coupons and price matches cannot be combined, it's either one or the other. If the coupon results in a price that is still higher, you get only the price match. If the coupon results in a price that is lower, no price match since you are lower.
