Okay, I know it will never happen, but it would definitely raise interest in the ceremony. I think that for once they need to get a host who won't kiss the butts of the Hollywood elite and tell it like it is. They need someone like that to host, and I honestly feel there are a lot of people who feel Hollywood deserves it. These ceremonies are getting more pretentious and self-serving with each passing year, and it seems like a time to shake things up a bit. He could definitely do that!

Huge fan of the Stern Show, I record and listen to the entire program each day (that it's on), but I wouldn't want to see Howard host the Oscars or any award show for that matter. I don't find him all that dynamic in any television appearance.

Howard Stern will not do the Oscars. He will not do American Idol. He's not going to do anything other than his radio show...and he might not even do that after this year. He has no reason to do stuff like that. He just talks about it as a way to pass time on his show. That's it. He's a radio personality.

FWIW, I was thinking of this on Oscar night itself, but the comments he made yesterday reminded me of thinking about it. Doubt it will happen after that, but it was fun to contemplate.

Indeed. It's an award ceremony put on by a group to award its OWN members. Insisting that it needs to be shaken up is strange. It's not a governmental function. They don't have to answer to the public.

Indeed. And everyone saw how well that worked out. This is kind of a silly poll. No way has Stern ever been approached to do the Oscars. Nor will he ever be. NOR would he ever do it. Maybe the AVN's. Hell, Aunt Lydia has a better shot at hosting the Oscars.

The people you claim need to be shaken up are the Academy, so essentially they would have to be aware of their own stodginess. And if they were aware of that, they probably wouldn't be as stodgy as they are.

Can you imagine him coming back out after Julianne Moore gushes over Colin Firth after only knowing him for 3 days?

How was Howard "tired" in that clip? He was just saying what everybody was thinking. Do you really think she's going to have a career? Is she healthy? Oprah was kissing her ass and they were mocking her for that.

It'll never happen, but it should. Actually, to be honest, I'd rather see Gilbert Gottfried and Stern's sidekick Artie Lange co-host the Oscars. Lange and Gottfried are both film buffs who are much savvier in their film knowledge than anybody else on the Stern crew and would both come up with biting, appropriate and very funny asides. That's the Oscar show I want to see.
