Doesn't include the stuff from the Wal-Mart bonus disc, though, does it?

Would pick it up if I could get it for under $10. The first 30 minutes are the only thing worth owning and would be nice just to see that 30 mins in HD. It actually has some of Spielberg's best camera work of his career, but after that 30 mins the film is unwatchable.

I think most of the movie is pretty good, but the part where
is just terrible. And not just because I hate
with a fiery passion.
Really, take that one single bit out and I think it's an entertaining movie. A pale shadow of Minority Report, to be sure (which has its own problems), but still entertaining. I thought Robbins was pretty awesome.

Heck, I'd buy the Blu-ray for its apparent inclusion of the teaser trailer. Next to the one for Terminator 2, it's easily one of the best teasers I've seen. Oh, yeah, and I love the movie.

Sort of a guilty pleasure for me.
Mainly the first 30 minutes like Sessa mentions, but there are a few good moments throughout the rest of the film too.
But yeah, I usually don't double dip just for HD, but I will here, probably not till under $10 though.

Yeah, when the tripods are harvesting people at night there are some great eerie shots. Then it gets silly again when Cruise happens to find the grenade.

The DVD had great sound, so the lossless on this one should be awesome.
I'm a little surprised we're getting these Spielberg titles one after the other like this. I thought Paramount would have staggered them out more. Now that he's happy enough with the format's market, when is Universal going to start releasing their Spielberg titles?

I love this movie. I do agree though that the film would be stronger had a certain someone not reappeared at the end.
Personally the most tense scene for me was the mob scene trying to steal the car.

I agree, and that fault does little to damage the film, it does so much else right.

quite true... but one scene really delivered: the Ferry boat scene and the prior shot of the Tripods coming over the hills had the hair on the back of my neck stand straight up. The sound design and everyone going apeshit was intense.
However if you've seen Scary Movie 4, you almost have to giggle at the source material and how well it was mocked.

^ yes, we all know that it's all Lucas' fault. You just want to take a wadded up newspaper and give him a whack to the back of his head.
