Spartacus

Synopsis:

Spoiler:
Chafing under the pressure of Batiatus' tight-fisted control, Spartacus is thrust into yet another do-or-die situation as he is forced to put his past behind him and embrace his role as a champion gladiator.

Really enjoying this show. Netflix puts it up sometime after midnight on Thursdays so i try and get it watched before i get to bed. Nearly stood up and cheered at one of the deaths tonight.

Yeah this is a great show. I haven't seen this episode yet, I'll watch it tonight some time. I'm sure it'll have all of the gratuitious violence and nudity that the other episodes have had, can't wait

Since Sura is now dead, it will be interesting to see where Spartacus goes as a character. This ep. could be seen as a new starting point as most action up to this point about the titular character was about him trying to get back with his wife. My hope is that it focuses on him as an ass kicking gladiator and not a love-sick man.

Considering that many of the characters are actual historical figures,
Spoiler:
I'm assuming that Spartacus and Crixus will lead a slave rebellion at some point.

Unless they're only using the names of real people (Spartacus, Crixus, Batiatus, and Glaber) to tell gladiator stories.

I can't wait until Doctore finds out the truth about Barca.

At least we got one more episode with a naked Erin Cummings

Re: Spartacus: Blood and Sand -- "Great and Unfortunate Things" -- 03/05/10

This ep. gave off the vibe of the end of a comic-book origins story arc. The scene of him proclaiming "I am Spartacus!" looked like it was straight off the last page of a Graphic Novel. I guess the first half of the season was about him becoming Spartacus and now it's about him being the legend. So if it follows old history (or the Kubrick movie), does that mean he

Loved when Spartacus tossed they guy off the side of the cliff. I have been waiting to see who ended up being thrown off since i first saw them training there.

Well I can't comment so much being I can't remember which episodes where things happened but I really like the show much better now. I'm up to episode 10 now and it's much better than pussy Spartacus and some nice things happen along the way.

The ending of episode 9 solidified this show for me. Must see TV!

Yep same here, I only even bothered to post thoughts on future for anyone who was barely hanging on with the show. I think it's worth hanging around for now for sure.

When he went over, I was thinking Please, let us see him go splat! They always cut away right before they hit! Please, let us seem him go splat!

And the show didn't disappoint!

I haven't seen this, but being a huge fan of Roman empire shows, such as Rome evidently, I suppose I can't be disappointed?

Sure you can

This is a lot cheesier than "Rome". And if you've read any other comments about this show on DVDTalk, you'll see that you need to give it at least 4 episodes before passing judgement.

Are they still doing the shitty looking CGI blood w/300 like fight scenes like the pilot, or have they changed to be a tad more realistic? Don't have starz, but if its as good as you all say, i will prob check out the dvds.

Production on Season 2 has been delayed due to Andy Whitfield's being diagnosed with Non-Hodgkin Lymphoma.

awesome show; it def gets better. this show doesn't take itself serious. it has comic book written all over it. may not be for some ppl who want something serious like Rome.
