Smallville renewed for 10th season

“SMALLVILLE” TO RETURN FOR A TENTH SEASON ON THE CW

March 4, 2010 (Burbank, California) ? The CW Network has announced that its hit series “Smallville” will return in the fall of 2010 for a momentous tenth season.

“Smallville,” a modern retelling of the Superman legend, stars Tom Welling as Clark Kent. The series moved to Friday nights this season, where it currently ranks as network television’s #1 show in its time period among men 18-34 and men 18-49. Additionally, “Smallville” has dramatically improved The CW’s ratings performance in its Friday 8:00-9:00p.m.time period by 67% among adults 18-34 (1.5/6), 200% in men 18-34 (1.8/7), 75% in adults 18-49 (1.4/5), 183% in men 18-49 (1.7/6) and 74% in total viewers (3.12million).

“Smallville” joins the five previously announced series – “The Vampire Diaries,” “Gossip Girl,” “90210,” “Supernatural” and “America’s Next Top Model” – which will all return for another season on The CW.

“Smallville” was developed for television by Alfred Gough & Miles Millar (“Shanghai Noon,” “The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor”), based on the DC Comics characters. Kelly Souders & Brian Peterson serve as executive producers, along with James Marshall, Mike Tollin, Brian Robbins and Joe Davola. The series is produced by Tollin/Robbins Productions, Millar/Gough Ink and Warner Bros. Television. SUPERMAN was created by Jerry Siegel and Joe Shuster.
Erica Durance is contracted through season 10, so she will be back. Cassidy Freeman is also contracted through season 10 if they bring her back.

Gees....wonder how much money CW threw to this show to get them back for another year. Look for Supernatural to join Smallville on Friday.

Smart move by CW putting it on Friday night. A TV wasteland that they managed to pull viewers to. I hope other networks take notice.

My hope is they pick up Nikita and pair it with Vampire Diaries on Thursday.

Nahh, probably that Betwixt show. Nikita will go with Nomads (if CW picks up any of them). They are aiming for 10 shows a week (Mon-Fri).

Re: Smallville renewed for 10th season

Aw, je--I mean, that's great news.

I guess I will keep watching.

Seems like the CW were hoping Life Unexpected could replace One Tree Hill, but looks like they'll have to renew OTH and cancel LUx.

Re: Smallville renewed for 10th season

Just so we're clear...I posted this info 1st in one of the weekly threads. It's just that although I'm a Sucker for the DCU when done right , I'm just not married to Smallville enough to create a new "Renewed for year 10" thread.

That said, I hope we see more established guest Heroes and Bad guys in Y10.

Re: Smallville renewed for 10th season

Gave up on this show after episode 100 when Jonahtan Kent was killed off. Watched an episode the other day and had no idea what was going on.

I've started watching it in syndication on HDNet. I forgot how much I enjoyed this show.

Next to 24, this is my favorite show on TV. I own every DVD set. I would have never envisioned this show lasting 10 seasons.

Yeah I saw your post in one of the episode threads, but I think since this show is relatively popular in this forum, a 10th season renewal is pretty big news. Honestly, I think probably 80-90% of the time, I think people here ignore old episode threads getting bumped even when something like this gets posted in it.

Re: Smallville renewed for 10th season

I'm good with this.

I wonder how this will impact the rest of S9. I know some indivduals were/are already contracted for an optional 10th year. I wonder if they had it roughly mapped out and then a contigency plan in the event they had to wrap everything up by the end of S9.

I wonder who the main villian will be next year. They've pretty much gone through all the big ones, except for Darkseid.

Re: Smallville renewed for 10th season

Yeah i would vote for Darkseid, get Clark one step away from being Supes, and call it quits at 10.

And then give me Justice.

Sigh. Like Supernatural, I'm just ready for this show to end already. And like the sucker I am, I will continue to watch both.

Re: Smallville renewed for 10th season

Lets hope the CW is smart and sets an end date for next year and moves closer to the whole Superman theme.
So is Chloe going to be back??

Great news... will he finally fly?

Posts like this baffle me. Maybe around season 4-6 I could buy it, but the past two-three seasons have only gotten better every year. This season has probably been one of the best seasons of its run. If you're so ready for it to end, stop watching. It's that simple.

I agree. This is great news that Smallville is coming back for another season. I look forward to seeing it paired up with Supernatural once again.

I too think the past couple of seasons have really gotten better as they make definite progress towards CK becoming Supes. They were sort of stagnant for a couple of seasons because they didnt want him to become superman too quickly, but we all know what happens in the end. Gotta tell people like the one you quoted to stfu and turn off the tv if they dont like watching the show.

Oh I know. That's why i said what i said. I like Smallville but I'm not as loyal to it as others here and I knew someone would create a thread.

Re: Smallville renewed for 10th season

Fuck I need to watch for another season? I think the show has gone downhill ever since the "death of Lex" but I have to keep watching because of all the time I have invested.

That's funny because that is the exact point I thought the show started getting better. Rosenbaum was one of, if not the best character on the show, but keeping Lex around just limited the show's potential. Once they cut him loose they were free to do pretty much anything. You can only do so much with Lex Luthor before you start repeating yourself.

If only the film producers were listening, sigh...
