MLB 2K10 -- Anyone picking it up?

Unfortunately I don't own a PS3, so this is my only baseball alternative for the 2010 season.

I watched this funny clip from 2K Sports that compares the problems from 2K9, which I own and the newest version.

<object width="560" height="340"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/u79CxdE3yA0&hl=en_US&fs=1&"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/u79CxdE3yA0&hl=en_US&fs=1&" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="560" height="340"></embed></object>

Here's the trailer for the $1M promotion for the 1st person to pitch a perfect game.

<object width="560" height="340"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/i3-H2GR8WQc&hl=en_US&fs=1&"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/i3-H2GR8WQc&hl=en_US&fs=1&" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="560" height="340"></embed></object>

I assume that means you have to be logged on to XBox Live and play at the hardest level for them to keep track of you?

Has there been any reviews thus far for 2K10?

Okay, not a bad review from Game Informer. They gave it a 7.75.

Re: MLB 2K10 -- Anyone picking it up?

I might pick it up for the PC, since I picked up 09 last season. But I wasn't real impressed with it, and I'd just be grabbing it because I've been playing and modding PC baseball games for over a decade. Nice to see it looks like they improved the stadiums a bit.

But I'm moving on to MLB 10, one of the things that made me buy a PS3 in the first place.

Played a few games today and I'm enjoying it. Given that the bar is set so low for 360 users its nice to finally have an enjoyable game to play for the first time in a few years.

Re: MLB 2K10 -- Anyone picking it up?

Hmmm, So I guess the majority of this forum isn't sold on the 2K Sports Series for MLB huh?

I can't be the only one with an XBox 360 that picked up this game right? I know The Show is much better, but not everyone here has a PS3.

I went ahead and picked this up today. I dumped my MLB 2K9 considering how horrible it was. I bought it over 1 year ago and I swear I barely played 2 games. It was astonishing how bad 2K9 was. Shockingly I got a little over $6 in credit from Gamestop with the 50% trade in bonus.

Haven't played it yet, but I'm looking forward.

Fixed my 1st post with Youtube clips instead since those 2K Sports Trailers play automatically when you open this thread.

Re: MLB 2K10 -- Anyone picking it up?

I'm enjoying it so far although there's still some minor annoying things (still can't save camera options) but so far so good. Easily the most enjoyable version of this game since 2K7.

Re: MLB 2K10 -- Anyone picking it up?

I haven't played a 2K baseball game in a few years. I've usually opted for MLB The Show. But I may give 2K10 a shot.

When you bat, can you hit without the little target box? That's one thing I used to hate about this series in the past. I just want to swing when the ball comes in with no target box floating on screen.

How is the fielding? Pretty easy?

Yeah there's options to lose the target box. Fielding is a bit easier, being able to pre-load your throws and the new double play animations help make things smoother.

It's a better game now for sure, just without some of the bells and whistles of The Show. Those should come in time though provided the developers stay the same with 2K.

How do you pre-load your throw?

I'm playing as a short stop and I simply can't turn a double play because it takes forever for my guy to throw to second. I'm not really sure what I'm doing wrong as throwing to first is no problem, but I can't seem to do a quick throw to second in order to start the double play.

Apparently, the PC version will be sold for download from Game Stop on Opening Day (4/5/10) for $2.99. Yes, you read that right. That takes it into the "How bad could it possibly be" department. I'll certainly buy it for that price, even if I only play it a couple of times.

It's tricky and you have to break old habits from previous games but while you're going to field the ball, start hitting the stick or the button (depending on how you choose to field) for the base you want to go to before the ball gets to your fielder. On DPs it's a little trickier to get that second throw loaded up but it can be done. I still do some pretty awful turns but it's nice to be able to do it. I might also add its nice to be the runner and take out the fielders at the bag to break up DPs again.

$3 is still $3. I'd never have time to play it on the PC anyway.

Sad but true. I was thisclose to buying it but even at $3 it's a waste of money for me.

I've tried to buy it twice so far. They keep claiming there is an error in processing, cancelling the order and then charging my account anyway. Caveat emptor.

Does this game have HR Derby? I'd probably pay the 3 bones just to have that to play around with on my computer.

Mine worked fine this morning, but then again I'm sure it was when no one else was online trying to purchase it.

I picked this up for the 360 at Gamestop a few days ago. I actually like it alot. So much that I am trading in The Glitch...errr The Show

2k9 was terrible. They really improved this years version.

Is the Show still that bad? I hadn't been following along but as i'm thinking of getting a PS3 (for GT5) the Show would have been another game i would have probably grabbed with it.
