Glad I clicked the link...I'm just getting back into comics and didn't realize that they are going to continue the classic GI Joe series where it left off. I will definitely have to pick that up (loved those books as a kid).

For anybody that orders from DCBS, at the end of your order you can select 5 comics from FCBD to be sent in your order. I know they did it last month, and I think this month as well.

Woohoo, I love FCBD festivities and will definitely be attending. Hopefully my local comic book store will have the Owly and Friends comic this year, unlike the last...
Oh. What's with the Lady Gaga biographical comic? Must she intrude on everyone's interests?
Not that I remember, and not according to this checklist: bscreview.com/2008/12/news-2009-fcbd-free-comic-book-day-checklist-revealed

Sweet little line-up. That G.I Jow 155 1/2 looks tight.

This was a disaster last year. Stores would only give 1 book free and wanted us to pay $2 for any additional issues. I may make the trip for GI Joe, but the guys in the two stores I visited were complete dicks about this last year and actually rude to anyone coming in to get the free comics. I planned on catching up on Walking Dead during this event and gave my business to Borders instead.

Wow, I'm glad those stores are getting more business than they can handle so their best strategy is to take their industry's best community-outreach idea and treat both loyal and potentially new customers with open hostility. Either that, or maybe they're fronts for another operation.

My store had a sign that said "There are hundreds of thousands of these books printed and given out for FREE. They will never be 'worth' any amount of money. Please be respectful and take no more than 2 books that you will read."

A store out here in Singapore had some of this year's offerings tucked away in their Back Issue bins. Don't know if they're actually participating in FCBD because their store has nothing up for it. There's only one store out here (G & B Comics) that's actually promoting next Saturday (10 free comics if you're a member. 5 free if you're not. If you want more, it's a buck apiece).
Here's the three I found:
War of the Supermen has a different cover now.

Glad Supermen has a better cover. Cant wait to get Joe, though im afraid Hama's magic will be hard to capture again. Of course at the same time if he writes one battle scene, it will be more than the regular title has in 6 issues.

I can understand limiting the copies, but two per person is way too tight when you're trying to get people to sample something new. They're more likely to just pick the DC/Marvel title that they recognize.

I hate that Free Comic Book Day is the first Saturday in May; there's a little horse race here each year on the same schedule. Between work, classwork and Derby events, there just hasn't been time for me to make it out to FCBD. Last year, I finally made it (I was determined to snag a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles #1 reprint). Sadly, I have to confess I still haven't gotten around to reading all of what I picked out.

btw, this is my first time here or know about this free comic day.
my question, are we given free comic randomly or we choose the comic we want? and is it 1 comic per person?

Usually you can get at least several comics that you pick out from a preselected group of "freebies" from various publishers (I think the list is linked above).
