Did Kirk give the 100 rifles to the natives in private little war?

I was just watching this and at the end he says to Scotty to make 100 rifles to help his tribe friend get revenge, Scotty then doesn't get this and Kirk says 100 snakes from the garden of Eden, he's tired and beams up. Did he figure that it was a dumb thing he was doing or did he go ahead and arm them? This was a great episode btw

Once again, Wikipedia knows all:

In the end, Tyree demands more "fire stick" weapons to avenge his wife. Kirk reluctantly orders Mr. Scott to manufacture and beam down a hundred of the flintlocks and ammunition for the tribesmen—he calls them "serpents for the Garden of Eden". This will put them on an even footing with their enemy, which satisfies the terms of the Prime Directive, but Kirk is ruefully aware of the arms race that he has begun.

Yeah i checked there but wasn't sure because of his reluctancy and how he said it instead of having to repeat it as a fantasy thing and from being tired and realizing the crazy things they were doing like McCoy mentioned to him.

I think Kirk's actions triggered a temporal anomaly 300 years in the past... which resulted in Uncle Phil not picking up Will from the airport.

Good thing Kirk didn't provide a hundred flintlocks, ammunition and a mine shaft.

Fuck Wikipedia. It wasn't the Prime Directive (which Kirk would have ignored, anyway) it was the Organian Treaty.

I think he actually gave the natives 100 copies of "The Origin of Species" with rebuttals. Unless this is a different Kirk, that is.
