I am recieving my Kenwood VR-407 soon that i ordered.
I plan to connect every single thing so its perfect before i play ANYTHING using the reciever.
1) I currently have pro-logic, so what should i expect when i play DD or DTS the VERY FIRST TIME???

2) What should I watch first? The Matrix DD, or The Eagles: Hell Freezes over DTS? I think i should watch the Matrix FIRST, because I'll be amazed with the Dolby Digital, THEN when i listen to the DTS, It'll blow me away. If i listen to the DTS first, and listen to DD, i dont think the DD will have much impact.

3) What should my FIRST rental movie be??? SPR? Antz? (DTS ver. of coz for both), Armageddon? Suggestions???

The Matrix lobby shoot-out scene seems to be the definitive scene to judge a home theatre by, so that would be my vote. The difference between pro logic and DD\DTS is night and day. You WILL be shocked at what you now hear and haven't heard before.

Have to go with the opening of SPR as well. The bullets sound like there coming from everywhere. It is very intense.

If you have never heard DD or dts before, I envy you. I wish I could go back and lose my digital surround sound virginity again.

I would certainly watch a movie first, I would also get SPR, and for heaven's sake, don't rent it, buy the movie! (I don't think you can rent the dts version anyway, at least I've never seen it) But if you can't get it go with the matrix.

As for as DD being a let down if you hear dts first, it won't be. I personally do think dts sounds a little better, but the difference won't be as profound as you think.

Whatever you choose I'm sure you will be happy and amazed by it. So good luck with first home dd/dts experience.

I agree with d-rell,I think you will be disappointed if you think DTS blows away DD.I have some DD titles that sound MUCH better than some of the DTS titles I own.The only title that stands out to me is Saving Private Ryan. The rest are subtle differences.

You should wear some loose baggy shorts, cuz you gonna sport some serious wood if everything's hooked up right!

Apollo 13 DTS is another good one. The launch sounds as if you are taking off with them!!!
