I'm fairly new to DTS and am looking into upgrading my current setup. If I have a DVD player that is not DTS compatible, what would happen if I hook it up to a receiver that has a built-in DTS decoder? Would my DVD player be able to recognize DTS DVDs? Or do I need to replace my DVD-player with a model that is DTS compatible? Any suggestions are appreciated.
Thanks,
Rudy

If your dvd player passes the DTS bitsream, then it can send it to the receiver for decoding. If not, you need a new DVD player if you want to play the DTS track.
So, it comes down to what you mean by 'compatible'
