"The universe is a cold and loveless place."

I love Manny. Him walking in with his head down, defeated, and pouring himself and Mitchell a drink was priceless.

That one totally caught me off guard.

Cam's voice when conducting the "survey" was awesome. Loved how Mitchell got to give his closing argument anyway. It was great when Mitchell said "You and I both know there were two layers of chocolate."

I found Phil and Claires conversation in the restaurant particularly' disturbing; the part about the lists and her nagging were great. The escalator was awesome, especially Phil diving for the emergency stop button. I figured maintenance wasn't coming, but got a good laugh when he said, "I was faking it...no one's coming for us!"

Unfortunately, Jay and Gloria's story was just so-so.

Oh man, Phil saying that stuff on the phone at the end was great. Alex's line was great: "You were making fries in your bedroom?"

Loved this episode. Would love to see when Gloria had similar troubles with a coat.

I think a lot of the situations are extremely predictable. I was watching some of the previous episodes with my girlfriend and she was calling out everything that was happening.

But the writing is still very good.

That's part of the reason the writing on the show works. It's something people can relate to, which leads to predictability. In the end it comes down to how they execute, and this show excels in its execution.

I agree, a lot of the situations are predictable and they employ a lot of sitcom cliches, but somehow they make it all seem fresh again. It never seems like the writers are pandering or going for the easy laughs. It's really hard to make a sitcom believable and still hilarious but they pull it off every week.

Hilarious episode.
Jay and Gloria weren't that great, but everything else made up for it. Loved the role playing, and escalator scene. haha. And I agree that it was predictable, but somehow they always pull it off. Can't wait for the dvds.

I loved how Cam stayed in character for a split second longer when the kid hung up the phone. He was already off the phone and Cam said "Tarnation!"

Julianne: So are you here for a convention, Clive, or do you just forget your name a lot
Clive Bixby: I'm in town for a trade show. I design high-end electro-acoustic transducers.
Julianne: Wow, that is very specific.

I liked the part when Claire told Phil he wouldn't be getting much sleep that night so he should take a nap at work and he responded, "I always do." His accents as he was leaving the house were great too.

I thought they were going to call the cops and refuse Phil's credit card because of the "Clive" nametag after Claire was naked and presumably without ID. More hilarity could have ensued.

"Phil, my coat is stuck!"

"Phil, who's Phil?"

Honestly, there are SO many quotable moments during the show, so many facial expressions, that are incredibly funny, this could be a 15-page thread about nearly every episode. I love rewatching; for the original funny, plus the things I didn't catch the first time around.

Not as strong as the week before, but still another classic episode. This series has DVD written all over it. I can't wait til Season 1 arrives.

I was also rolling at the part when all these people Phil and Claire knew kept coming up to them on the escalator, especially when Phil started snickering after hearing the name of Luke's match teacher and got slapped by Claire for it.

The entire sequence w/ the cigarette in his hand was killing me. From ordering to drinks to "I don't even smoke" line.

I used to but the last few episodes has been way too much annoying Heaton and not enough Brick. I'm very close to dropping it...
