Do You Collect Amusement Park (or other places) Vacation Guide Videos?

Do You Collect Amusement Park (or other places) Vacation Guide Videos? I've recently started picking up amusement park vacation guide videos that I come across used at pawn shops, yard sales, flea markets, etc. Along with ones you can currently get online through the parks website. Anyone else do this? Some are so out of date but I find it fun to see how some places used to look back in the 80's/90's. Its amazing how parks have changed in the last 20 + years. Hearing the narrator talk about rides that I used to love as a kid but have been gone for 10 + years now it quite nostalgic.
Here is what I've got my hands on... What do you have?
- Busch Gardens: The Old Country - Williamsburg, VA (1989) [VHS]
- Universal Studios Florida: Experience The Magic Of Movies (1990) [VHS]
- A Day At The Magic Kingdom (1991) [VHS]
- Walt Disney World: Walt Disney World For Families! (1995) [VHS]
- Walt Disney World: A Magical Celebration For The Whole Family! (1997) [VHS]
- Walt Disney World: Make A Wish (1998) [VHS]
- Walt Disney World: Celebrate The Future Hand In Hand (1999) [VHS]
- Universal Orlando: Vacation Planning Video (2001) [VHS]
- Walt Disney World: 100 Years Of Magic (2001) [VHS] (Vacation Guide)
- Walt Disney World: 100 Years Of Magic (2001) [VHS] (Vacation Souvenir)
- Universal Orlando Resort: Vacation Planning Video (2002) [VHS]
- Walt Disney World: The Happiest Celebration On Earth - Vaction Planning Kit (2005) [DVD]
- Disney Parks: Join Us As We Celebrate The Year Of A Million Dreams - 2008 Vacation Planning DVD (2007) [DVD]
- Disney Parks: What Will You Celebrate? - 2009 Vacation Planning DVD (2008) [DVD]
- Disney Vacation Secrets Revealed (2008) [DVD]
- Disney Parks: What Will You Celebrate? - 2010 Vacation Planning DVD (2009) [DVD]

Re: Do You Collect Amusement Park (or other places) Vacation Guide Videos?

I have these:

2005
2008
2009
Just ordered the 2010 but haven't gotten it yet.

The older ones sound great as i'm the same way about wanting to see the parks as they change. Their were some great videos on the Disney Travel on Demand channel called Disney Fact or Fiction where the talked about the tunnels under the park, showed Walt's Apartment in Disney land, and showed the basketball court in the Matterhorn. I just checked yesterday and they aren't their anymore.

I don't intentionally collect them but that actually sounds like a lot of fun. I can certainly see the appeal of revisiting childhood rides, particularly ones that have since been retired. Though they aren't exactly vacation guides, I've bought several of the Disney Treasures titles that feature decades old specials on their parks:

Disneyland USA: Special Historical Broadcasts
Disneyland: Secrets, Stories & Magic
Tomorrow Land: Disney in Space and Beyond

^ Those are my favorite Disney Treasure sets.

I wouldn't say I collect Vacation Guide videos, but I do have some that I just don't want to part with... so I guess that kind of does make me a collector.

I wish Six Flags did videos like this.

I have a Region 2 Japanese DVD of The Rescuers Down Under that has a promo for Tokyo Disneyland. I've also got a region 2 DVD of Jurassic Park III that has a promo for Universal Studios Japan.

I have most of the free Disneyland US DVDs, including one about having your wedding there surrounded by people in those Mickey Mouse costumes!

The menus and most the audio is Japanese but there's enough English to get by.

We pick these DVDs up at Walt Disney World. Really great content that explores the history of each park, ride throughs from in-seat point of views, behind the scenes, and quite a bit of bonus material. You can pick them up at the parks or resorts, or at laughingplacestore:

http://www.laughingplacestore.com/Category-RC-767.asp

(which lists all of the content and bonus material found on each one) - If you are a Disney fan, you gotta get these.

^ Those look great. I'll have to pick them up when I go to Disney in September. And thanks for that link. There are a lot of great DVDs on that site.

I have all 4 of those as well but I loaned them to my sister and haven't gotten them back yet. The only negative is that they are kind of short as most are only 30 minutes long.

Their's also a set of books that have the same covers as the DVDs that comes in a box set but their's an extra book called Everything Else in the World that covers the resorts, the water parks, and more. I just picked the books up when I was down in Disney World the first week in January.

Re: Do You Collect Amusement Park (or other places) Vacation Guide Videos?

I use to pick up all the Disney Resorts DVDs whenever I'd hit a park but lately, they really haven't done anything new. The last thing produced for America was "Disneyland: Imagineering the Magic" (2-Disc with Slipcover).

After a year delay, the Walt Disney World one just came out:

Also, if you're interested in the Tokyo Park DVDs, you can find those on Amazon Japan.

Are those Imagineer dvds only available at the parks? I went to DisneyWorld a few weeks ago and didn't see them at all.

When Disneyland opened in 1955, Disney did a broadcast of the Magic Kindom opening. Many guest stars and scenes of the park. I think it was originally live but later on DVD. A couple of techical goofs are fun to watch.

The are both listed on the Disney Store site, but the WDW one is out of stock. If you look online, you can call Disney Park services and by them via phone is you have the UPC code.

The 4 park Walt Disney World park DVD's are awful. The video quality is bad at best and super short. For the $20-$25 price range, it is not worth it at all.

For me, Amusement/Theme parks are my main hobby. So with that said, I have most of the DVD's out there. If you like roller coasters, I suggest the Theme Park Review "Roller Coasters: In the Raw" series. They are footage of the ride outside the ride of it running then professional Point-of-View video. Easily my favorite series. They can be found at: http://www.themeparkreview.com/store/

Re: Do You Collect Amusement Park (or other places) Vacation Guide Videos?

First off, sorry to bump such an old thread. I ordered ...

Disney Parks: What Will You Celebrate? 2010 Vacation Planning DVD
Disney Cruise Lines 2010 Vacation Planning DVD

... five weeks ago and still haven't received them. I did however get one of those Disney Pin Numbers via mail stating "Thanks for your interest in planning a Disney vacation." But no DVDs. I feel like too much time has passed.

How long did it take for you guys to get yours in the mail? I am very interested in seeing these so my family can choose a park or a cruise, ect,. and see the changes made over the last years. If it doesn't come Monday I think I'll call the phone number you can call to order these and let them know I never got mine.
