I hope that they don't stretch it out too long. They can solve the case and not have the series end, since it is not the thread that holds the series together.

Shit lets hope not. No one from MONK is associated with this series are they? I dont want to see Becketts mom had another kid and was blown up by a whale than it turns out Coach was behind the whole thing.

There is only 9 episodes left with roughly 17 weeks left in the season. Expect to see quite a few repeats coming up.

I also liked this episode - it was good to they came back to the Beckett story arc, progressed it but didn't close it (since it's not something they do week to week, I'm OK with them dragging it out as long as they don't crazy with that storyline).
And while perhaps a bit cheesy, I thought the exchange between Castle talking about quitting and Beckett saying his presence makes the job better was well done.

The Beckett's mom storyline screamed Monk to me as well. Has her mother's backstory ever been explored? Why would someone hire a hitman to kill her?

Did they really do the heroin tasting thing in this show? Was she kidding?

Good episode. Nice to see them get involved more with Kate's moms murder, before this episode it hadn't really been explored much.

This was the weirdest and akward episode of this show to date. And I don't mean that in a good way. Something was absolutely off the whole way through. The editing was beyond poor to the extent I felt like I had missed scenes. The dialogue and actions by characters was chliche. Beckett walks in an accuses the brother without any evidence expecting to get a confession. Seriously? Beckett has some random conversation with her dad that we've never had any discussion on.
I feel like they rushed this one big time. It almost felt like 2 episodes crammed into one. I wonder if the linkage to her mom was added in after the fact. If you take away 3 or 4 short scenes I think you'd get rid of all of that immediately. A typical episode would have had Beckett go back to the old guy and apologize about both his sons and how she was wrong for accusing him in the first place.

That scene bugged the hell outta me. I thought she was screwing around with Castle then the scene concluded as if that were a normal thing to do. It brought to mind Shatner tasting cocaine in Showtime.

I fianlly saw the ep and it was great. Though it did seem very rushed and edited badly. I thought I was the only one to notice that. It was real apparent in the scene with her dad and the fact that the father from Braveheart never came back out.

James Cosmo is great even in his brief role as Angus MacLeod in Highlander. I wish they'd have used him more in this episode.

Anyone notice the background music when

It was very The Dark Knight - bank heist score.
Similarly, for the episode "Boom" when Beckett
