Why Norm MacDonald is awesome

Aside from the fact that he was in one of the funniest movies of the 90's, Dirty Work, and that he was fired from SNL for making OJ jokes, he also delivered what has to be the greatest 10 minutes in Roastology history:

<object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/zSCQ4rTyACs&hl=en_US&fs=1&"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/zSCQ4rTyACs&hl=en_US&fs=1&" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>

Absolutely brilliant stuff. Up there with anything Andy Kaufman ever did.

Why isn't he in any movies these days? He's 100 times funnier than Dane Cook.

Also, if I may say so, he actually looks better now than he did in his prime. Am I the only one who thinks he resembles a young Burt Reynolds? With real hair!

I would love to see a Dirty Work II. And they better make it in a hurry because Artie Lange may not be around much longer.

It only took a few seconds before the other comedians realized what he was doing. He played it well, reading off the cards was a nice touch.

He was a guest on the talk show I produce a few months ago. He's nice, but very weird. Very hard to have a "serious" conversation with him.

He's always a great guest on the Stern show.

Maybe it's just me, but I feel like in the past few years, something happened to him. He seems a lot slower on the uptake now than he used to be.

I'm glad the dais was getting his routine, because I sure as hell wasn't. I don't remember this from the broadcast ... and apparently for good reason.

I laughed few times when he was on SNL. And I do like him, he strikes me as a fun and cool guy.

Dane Cook is corny.

I'll take Martin Lawrence, Katt Williams, Chris Rock and the rest of Kings of Comedy.

Re: Why Norm MacDonald is awesome

I love Norm. Saw Dirty Work opening weekend and loved it even then, love it now.

Thanks for posting that Stern interview; I wound up watching all six parts. Hilarious.

It's never too late to discover a clip from a TV show, and post about it in Movie Talk.

Every joke he told was classic vaudeville stuff. Any comedian worth his salt would get, and appreciate, the homage, while all the newbie poseurs would be totally lost. Genius.

Dirty Work was awful. Easily one of the worst movies I've ever seen.

I'm convinced there are two kinds of people in the world: people who think that bit from the roast is one of the most hilarious things ever and people who think it was thoroughly unfunny. I am firmly in the first group.

I love Norm and all, but that bit seemed to mostly bomb from the crowd reaction to him.
