Avatar: It's Not Just the CAR...
... When I get into my truck and go somewhere - especially someplace new - I do not whine "Aw, it's the same old truck, the same old steering wheel..." No, I look out of the windows and enjoy the ride.
Avatar is eactly the same experience - IF all of the EXPERT WRITERS out there can quit whining about the familiar story content. There is a Faustian-Deal aspect for a writer or director when they pop-out a "Titanic" or "Star Wars" from that lil' Easy-Bake oven imagination of theirs; nothing eactly like that ONE will ever be received favorably. The flaw then is within US - not them. I admire, salute and deeply appreciate what Mr. Cameron has brought to us.
For me the real issue with Avatar was those awful Real-D glasses. PLEASE - can someone notice that many of us wear GLASSES; why not make large, light wrap-arounds similar to those things you get at the eye-doctor after pupil-dilation?
And that's a good analogy, that Avatar is indeed eye-opening if you just look out at the movie and quit whining about the upholstery. I will see Avatar again in the theater (non-3D this time) and I would pay double or triple for a BluRay DVD and be happy to do it.
Thank you, Mr. Cameron!

Because the entertainment value is way too high to leave it hidden in another thread? Don't forget, this is also a first post! Have fun, guys.

There must be multiple types of Real-D glasses out there, since I've heard similar complaints, but the theater I frequent use a sunglasses style that easily fits over my glasses.

Same here, for Real-D anyway. However, the IMAX theater where I went had the old plastic wraparounds, which don't fit that well over glasses. Hence I wore contacs. What's the point of this thread exactly?

You know, Sid, I really like bananas... I mean, I know that's not profound or nothin'... Heck! We ALL do... But for me, I think it goes much more beyond that.

I was just looking for a Far Side today, the one with all the horses voting and the caption says something like "For the first time any of them could remember, one of the group voted the other way," and one of the horses was looking really embarrassed. Couldn't find it online, though.

I for one think you need to get your truck reupholstered. I think it may be harboring mold spores that may be affecting your perceptions.
I love when people call actors/directors "Mr. or Mrs" etc.. It's like they are sending us an inner office memo.
"Damn that Larry Jenks for always downing the Christmas office party. I think I'm going to send a memo to Mr. Cameron so he can be aware of the insolence happening toward him".

I have glasses too and the 3D glasses are just fine. I can't stand those old school wrap around heavy ones that put weight on the nose...
What kind of glasses you have - some huge framed hipster glasses?

I know Avatar just came out, but whenever I hear a plot summary it sounds like something I've already seen, and twenty years ago. When movies didn't cost $17 a ticket.
OP, when Duke Nukem Forever comes out, get back in touch, 'kay?
