I had no idea that Broken Lizard were releasing a new flick until I heard two of them interviewed on a podcast yesterday and they said The Slammin' Salmon was coming out Friday. What a great surprise! Though I haven't seen Club Dread or their first movie, I love the hell out of Super Troopers and Beerfest, so I'll give this one a shot.
Honestly, the trailer didn't do much for me, but then again I didn't like "Super Troopers" when I first saw it, but grew to love it after repeated cable viewings.

Wow, I totally forgot about this one. I remember seeing the trailer over the summer and thought it looked good. It was great seeing Micheal Clark Duncan in it.

Not playing anywhere near me yet. If it does wind up opening wide, I'll try to catch it.

I tried to catch this over the weekend but it's not playing near me either. Closest theater is over 30 miles away. Hopefully I won't have to wait until it hits DVD to see it.

Re: The Slammin' Salmon (Broken Lizard) - 12/11/09
The girlfriend and I saw this on Saturday at the Alamo Drafthouse with Broken Lizard in attendance for a Q&A.
HILARIOUS.
Michael Clarke Duncan really makes the film, believe it or not.
I'd say it's better than Beer Fest & Club Dread but not exactly to the peak of Super Troopers (the sequel to which Jay Chandrasekhar confirmed is in the 2nd draft stage of pre-production). They also mentioned that we can expect Pot Fest [to be renamed Pot Quest] to be their next film in production but that, because it is at a different studio (Universal vs Warners) it would feature the boys playing different characters than in the first film and the name of the film is not allow to end in "-Fest", strangely.
The guys from BL were really cool as well, they were hanging out in the lobby talking to people before the film and then hung out with their fans at the Drafthouse's new bar/lounge/bowling alley across the street.
It played really well at our theater so I'd expect it to expand. I believe it opened in a mere 11 theaters this past weekend. The film is produced/distributed by Anchor Bay Entertainment so they might not have the pull to get this in more theaters during the holiday season, imho.
EDIT: I looked up the film's take for the weekend and in 11 theaters they made $26,167. So, uh, this might not make it wide. I know the Alamo Drafthouse has only a 1 week commitment on it (up till Thursday) with the possibility of staying up to 3 more depending on popularity, so if you're in the Austin area that's the place to see it. I'd hurry though if I were a betting man based on those numbers.
It's a shame because even the fans of their other films probably don't even know the film exists due to ZERO marketing.

2 of my clients are in this. I went and supported when it had a short 2 week run in LA. I thought it was good.

I didn't know anything about this or I would have made the drive to Austin. Will wait for the blu-ray.

Just finished watching. I've never seen Puddle Cruiser, so out of their 4 major films I'd rank them:
1) Super Troopers
2) Beerfest
3) The Slammin' Salmon
4) Club Dread
It had its moments. It didn't really feel like a Broken Lizard movie. It honestly felt more "Direct-to-DVD", script was kind of weak. But overall it's worth at least a viewing. Michael Clarke Duncan was awesome.

Comes out tuesday.
Watched about 25 minutes and it's ok so far.
Problem I have is why not just tell the staff the restaurant is going to close if they don't take in 20g's

Watched this last night. Such a great movie. I'm probably in the minority, but I think this was their funniest movie so far. I would at least rate this 1a and 1b with Super Troopers in no particular order. I love all their stuff though, even Club Dread.
The Meat Drapes scene had me howling. Glad I never saw a single preview or heard anything about it before watching it.

Yeah, I didn't find much funny at all. Super Troopers had excellent, fresh bits through out the movie which still make me laugh. Slammin' Slamon seemed to through out old jokes that have been rehashed for the last 25 years and felt very plain and ordinary, like something from a mediocre sitcom on NBC. A lot of potential as far as patrons for the restaurant, but even then they blew it with stale situations like Vivica A Fox's character or the Heroes dude.
