I have always been a fan of Denon products--I have owned a Denon-3300 and 2400 receivers and they are excellent. I recently purchased a Denon 1500 player based upon my past experience with their products. In the short time that I owned the player I didn't have any problems; however, if you look up the player on www.audioreview.com under the reviews you will see that the player has terrible history of lip sync problems. For this reason I took mine back--I wasn't going to end up with another player that was going to be worthless. As of last month I hadn't seen any firmware updates available to correct the problem. It's too bad, because I really like the player and the 'better build'.

I then purchased an Onkyo 525 player for $245 new and it was excellent. I took this one back a week later though because I was able to buy a floor model Toshiba SD-5109 progressive scan player for $160 more.

If you haven't had the player very long I would take it back. If you have, hopefully Denon will back their players with the same level of service as they have in the past and at least offer a firmware update. Good luck!

Dan
