BestBuy.com offering 99 cent holiday shipping

Best Buy Co. Inc.’s Web site will offer 99-cent standard shipping on most products for the holidays, the company announced Tuesday.
The offer doesn’t include products that require a scheduled delivery. Best Buy, (NYSE: BBY), which has 21 metro Atlanta stores, also said that orders placed by 10 a.m. on Dec. 21 will be delivered by Christmas.
Best Buy’s online site saw a 24 percent spike in unique visitors on Black Friday. It’s the fifth most-popular online shopping site, according to comScore.
Other retailers have also been cutting shipping fees in what’s become a cutthroat holiday season. Minneapolis-based Target Corp. (NYSE: TGT) kicked off a free-shipping promotion on 100,000 items (for shoppers spending $50 or more at its site) in early November, two weeks earlier than usual.
