Blus not starting from where you left off?
Ok..I've got a small collection of Blus (19 atm). I own a PS3, got it September (it's $299 btw). One thing I've noticed is that unlike DVDs (which may have depended on your player but for the PS3 it doesn't) some Blus literally start up to the previews or menus or to the film. And then SOME don't. out of the 19 I have only....maybe 6 immediately pick up from where I left them off. Enter The Dragon and Heat for example picks up where I left off when I turned the player off while TDK goes right to the movie.
Overall what my is...
Why do some pick up from where you stopped and others don't?

Re: Blus not starting from where you left off?
Short answer: Java
BD Live and more complex menu systems use Java for updating features, Bonus View, etc. The trade-off/technical limitation of BD Live and Java-based content is you can't automatically resume a movie from the point at which it was stopped.
It's not something that's player specific.

So how would that affect a Blu like The Third Man? Which doesn't use BD Live like most WB flicks (great Blu btw from Criterion)? It also doesn't do start up immediately.

BD-J is what apparently prevents it, not necessarily BD-Live. Even if BD-J is just used for a fancy menu, it keeps you from resuming.

DAMN YOU, JAVA! *sigh*...thanks guys. It's just a real annoying thing to have to fast forward after skipping the adds or chapters or whatever to get to where I left it off.
