Blu-ray storage

New-to-Blu Guy checking in.

Blu-ray discs feel thinner and lighter to me.
I notice that Blu-ray cases are made of a translucent material that is softer than DVD case material.

If I were to put a Blu-ray disc in a DVD case, do I risk breaking it ?

Should I keep Blu-ray discs ONLY in the softer Blu-ray cases?

No, you won't break it. Blu-Ray discs are actually thicker than DVDs, at least they feel that way because of the extra protective coat. Additionally, the plastic on blu-ray cases is the same as DVD cases as far as I know, the plastic is just thinner.

It continually amazes me how condescending folks can be toward people who don't necessarily share their level of experience, or may in fact be considerably older, or younger, or simply less knowledgeable about certain subjects than others here.

I'm glad someone was at least able to help, on the third try.

Normally I would agree but come on, it's a disc that goes on a hub. I can't even fathom how one could damage a disc by putting it in a dvd case.

Indeed, and apparently that's worthy of ridicule by the "veterans" around here.

Re: Blu-ray storage

I thought this thread was going to be about when some company will actually make storage units specifically for BR cases ...

Re: Blu-ray storage

When my parents got a DVD player, my mother asked how to rewind the disc.

In the OP's defense, I have seen occasional talk here about how certain case hub types are more difficult to release the disc than others, and how DVD-Rs can be damaged if the disc is 'bent' in releasing it from hubs.

So maybe they thought that the hole in blu-rays was slightly different than standard DVDs, and would therefore be less optimal for certain hubs.

Yeah, but sadly she was asking about what to do when they were finished watching!

Okay... I'll go for that.
