Darn, my original plan is not going to work. Gotta get a new TV (past exchange date).
So, explain it to me like I'm two. I want to set up the most bare-bones, simplistic home theatre system (i.e. TV and DVD player). What do I need? As far as a TV, what jacks/outputs does the set need to have? What is an S-video output? Are audio/video outputs on a TV sufficient? As far as a DVD player, what brand is best?
Hey, I'm a sci-fi fan and DVD special editions are coming out every week! Next I'll ask you guys about the speaker/receivers which have always confused me.
Thanks for the welcome.

What size TV are you talking about?? How much do you want to spend altogether??
As far as the S video jack....your dvd player has an s video out which feeds into your s video in on TV's which have this feature. Basically, you enjoy a better picture over composite jacks(RCA Jacks)...Toshiba has s video and component video jacks on the rear panel of their TVs....if you purchase a TV with component inputs then be sure to buy a dvd player with the component out jack...once again, let us know how much you wish to spend and someone can give you an idea of how much you will be looking at spending!!!
