CRAP once again I miss the premier of a series/mini series I was looking forward to ugh...
Edit-Oh man I've missed 3 episodes now, since I see there was one on 11/15.

They've shown four of the six episodes so far, with the final two airing tonight (Tuesday, Nov. 17).

Just watched the last 2 eps...I'm definitely "meh" on it. Wasn't a big surprise, what I could understand of it anyways.

What a craptastic ending. Seriously. I feel cheated by the whole thing, and will never be watching it again. I'm going to watch the original now, to remind myself how it should ne done.

Any chance you could spoil it for me to save me from having to watch the final episode?

What a total mindfuck...
There is a lot of hate for this remake...but I think it is pretty fucking good...it managed to not copy the original, but pay respect to it, while incorporating current day post 9/11 paranoia.

...let me also add that the ending of the original series pissed off viewers to the point that Patrick went into tv exile for many years...

Spoiler:
That would be fine if it were just any other scifi miniseries. But why tackle such an iconic series if you're not going to keep it's iconic theme?

I enjoyed it, though the last couple of episodes were the weakest. Loved the ending. I also loved when Two...

I find it funny that people are criticizing this remake as a "mindfuck" on the one hand and praising the original on the other. Christ, did you guys see the original's finale? Now THAT is the Webster definition of a "mindfuck". Those guys were on drugs when they did that ep. Seriously fucked-up on drugs I tell you. Total nonsensical stream-of-consciousness crap; what I imagine would be the product of a William S. Burroughs and David Lynch mind-meld.
Bottom line -- the original's finale was a big "fuck you" to their audience as it answered nothing and was just an exercise in self indulgence by the show's runners.

Spoiler:
Yes the original ending was a giant mess that pissed off viewers for years...the ending of this series isn't nearly as confusing...but still a mindfuck...in a good way.

The makers of this show must have went to Peter Jackson film school.
Excessive use of slow mo, plus the camera moves so slowly making it even more unbearable.
Dialogue tends to drag.
The music is very slow moving as well.
It doesn't help that the show has that new age editing style intended to make everything look ambiguous(sort of like an anime)
It becomes a chore to watch a whole episode because of these things.

I agree those are things which made it hard for me to watch, but I love Peter Jackson's stuff.
Maybe good story and writing can overcome it.

Well count me in the minority, I liked this a lot. The first three hours, for me, were setup and initially I did not like it. I re-watched the first three hours again (AMC replayed them from 6-8) and really started to get a grip on what was going on. The next three hours were a total mindfuck to the Nth degree.
For the sake of disclosure, I have never seen the original...outside of the Simpsons episode. So I am going to get the original series and see what the difference really is. But this was very cool...loved the score, the sets, the actual filming and the two leads. And to quote a good friend of mine, "them bitches is foine....", never hurts to have a little eye candy in a show like this.

Ratings for horrible. One of the episodes got about 900K viewers and 0.3 in the 18-49 demographic.
I still have all 6 episodes saved and will watch when I get a chance.

I haven't watched the final two episodes and don't feel much incentive to finish it off. I've found it pretty boring overall and don't care much what happens to the characters. 6 is generally unlikable and I don't feel like rooting for him.
Maybe I'll watch the last two when I don't have much to watch on TV.

I came into this with serious reservations and after seeing what they did in the first episode I wasn't feeling any better, BUT, in the end, I really liked it.
No, it's not really a remake of the original. It borrows some concepts and imagery, but in many ways it is completely different. Once they explain everything (and compared to the original this thing serves it up on a platter) the central concept of individualism vs collectivism (or conformity) is clearly still there. They just really took the concept to a different place, or a whole different plane of existence you might say.
There are some problems. Part of it is due to the slapdash adaptation of elements of the original, plus the pacing is very slow at times. Part of me is itching to rewatch it from the beginning, but another part still recalls that pacing with dread.

The remake overall was just poorly done. I wish they had called it something else other than The Prisoner. There was not one area where I thought execution was well-done. Acting, writing, and direction were all poor to middling.
