Well, I knew this day would probably come at some point but it's too bad that the Hawks had to go down AND lose their QB today. We looked really good at the start but our offense couldn't do a damn thing once Stanzi went down. Defense once again was solid only giving up 10 points, not counting the touchdown NW got when Stanzi fumbled and got hurt. Going to be a tough game next week at OSU but I'm still proud of what the Hawkeyes have done this year. At the worst, we'll go 9-3 and that is still a great accomplishment. I still have faith that we can at least beat Minnesoata in 2 weeks though. I'm not going to sit here and make excuses but to all the haters out there that say we were overrated and didn't deserve to be in the top 10, well you can all take a flying leap. Tulsa up 1 (38-37) and driving with 6 to play.
If Tulsa comes up with a TD and you're the coach do you go for 2?
The TD alone puts you up by 7, and a PAT still leaves Houston with a chance to tie. Going for 2 gives you a chance to make it a two-score game, but if you fail you're still up 7 against a ranked team who would more than likely be looking to force OT than risk their season on a single 2-pt conversion if they scored an equalizing TD. To me, it seems like going for 2 if you're Tulsa makes a TON of sense.

Wait a minute, a few posts up you were whining and crying that Weiss is the WORST. COACH. EVAR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! and must be fired because he has dragged ND through the mud with his vast suckitude.
You can't have it both ways.
Fact is, ND is just like Nebraska, they are no longer able to recruit the elite athletes, in large part because of the perceived "whiteness" of the respective schools.I recall when Bo Pellini was hired at Nebraska a few years back, and the main reason for his hiring was his promise to do more in-state recruiting, as if the state of Nebraska was full of black athletes. The only reason Nebraska was as good as they were in the 1980's and 1990's is that Osbourne managed to get one or two elite black athletes away from Florida/FSU/Miami like Tommy Frazier and Lawrence Phillips.
Sadly it's people like you and the alumni at ND who for whatever demented reasons fail to accept the fact that their football program is not and never again will be among college footballs elite.

I don't understand why people continue to say that Notre Dame isn't able to recruit top talent. According to the link above, since 2002, they've averaged the 17th best recruiting class and that includes 2 years (04 and 05) where they ranked 32 and 40. Since Charlie Weis started, they've averaged the 10th best recruiting class, including the second ranked class of 08.
How does that possibly equate to not being able to recruit top athletes because the school is too white? The fact is that, despite being a tough academic school with high standards and all that crap, they've been able to recruit the best athletes in the country. The problem is that the coaching staff has not been able to do anything with them. They got the athletes...that's step one, but they haven't been able to accomplish step two, which is to teach those athletes, make them better and win games.
Obviously, top athletes still think Notre Dame is relevent, or else they wouldn't average a top 10 recruiting class. They just need a coach that can mold those athletes and Charlie Weis is not it.
