Wale's debut album on Roc Nation will be released next week and it's shaping up to be one of the better hip-hop albums of 2009.

Wale isn't your typical rapper - he's more in the vein of KiD CuDi (which is a good thing IMO) with catchy lyrics and really good production. His first single was "Chillin'" with Lady Gaga and it received moderate airplay. I don't know what his second single will be, but one of the standout songs on the album is "Contemplate" which samples Rihanna's "Question Existing" off of her Good Girl Gone Bad album.

Totally solid. I'm really digging it so far. There's been a lot of good hip-hop albums this year but I would definitely put this in my Top 5 or so.

Uh, there's a far more popular thread lower on the first page of MusicTalk.

Wale's been around for a while.Well, he's new to me. :)

I'm sure he didn't pop up overnight but he's gotten in to the 'mainstream' light over the past couple of months.

Didn't see another thread. My bad.

Wale - Attention: Deficit (http://forum.dvdtalk.com/music-talk/564156-wale-attention-deficit-11-10-09-a.html)

I thought Wale was on Mark Ronson's label, not Roc.

Edited: I guess he's signed to both.

^ he really isn't, I saw him as an opener at the 9:30 Club - the crowd's response was sooooo not impressed.
