I continue to read The Audacity of Hope: Thoughts on Reclaiming the American Dream by Barack Obama. Up till now, I've done a pretty good job of completing a book before month's end, but I started this one too late to knock it off in October (thank you, baseball and Horror Movie Challenge).
That's it I quit, screw this book I'm throwing the damned thing away. I loved Cabal and Imajica but this book is a mess.
It's been some years since I read it, but I really liked it. Probably my favorite Barker, though I haven't read many of his. But yes -- six attempts! Probably ok to give it up.
Just got notification that I have Under The Dome by Stephen King waiting for me at the library.
wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!

The Venetian Betrayal by Steve Berry--a Dan Brownish sort of yarn. Also, Psmith Journalist by P.G. Wodehouse--of Jeeves and Wooster fame.

Two nights ago, I finished The Audacity of Hope by Barack Obama. Last night, I started (and finished) The Man with the Golden Gun by Ian Fleming. Not sure what's next. I know that Half Price Books is going to be running a sale starting Monday, so I might just sit tight and see if I find something new to read there when I go.
Just finished this! As a fan of Ferguson's, I enjoyed it and found myself easily hearing him narrate it in my head. (Plus, of course, I recognized several passages from the bits on the show where he got celebs to read from it.) The only complaints I really had were 1) it was too brief and 2) I felt like I was familiar with a lot of the material from his on-air remarks over the years.
As for myself, I elected last night to finally delve into Sherlock Holmes. I bought The Complete Sherlock Holmes (in the standard two volumes) at Half Price Books over the summer. Last night, I read A Study in Scarlet. I'm not sure if I'm going to just plow through the whole series now, or space it out like I did with Ian Fleming's Bond series.
Interesting... did he get the premsis from the Simpsons Movie? ;)

Sounds like my reading list. I've recently read the first three Bond books, but took a break to read some other things, like Ferguson. I also have the Complete Sherlock Homes in two volumes (though maybe not the same as your as I got mine used at a book fair) but I've yet to read those.

I really enjoyed the Ferguson book, even though it was very short. It was actually pretty touching in some places, which I didn't expect. It made me more of a Ferguson fan than I was before.
