Those SWAC matchups aren't much worse than the afternoon slate of tv games today.

You are just jealous that you don't get the big NDSU (1-7 0-5 MVC) vs Western Illinois (1-6, 0-4 MVC) game this afternoon like I do. :)

I can't wait for tOSU/Iowa game week where it will be billed as a defensive battle when it's really a contest of who's offense is less shitty on that day.

The Hoosiers with a nice lead going into the half. Of course, they haven't been very effective in holding onto these type leads this season.

Technical issues at the Auburn/Old Miss game has resulted in this on the screen at all times, including plays:

It has more to do with a lot of big money donors coming in this weekend. They're already grumbling and a big lose in front of them could put things in motion.

If it makes you feel any better they had a bunch of recruit visits pushed back from this weekend because they expect it to get ugly and they didn't want drunk fans yelling at them that Zook sucks and asking why they would come there and play for him like happened earlier this year:lol:

It's usually like that for you because the 3:30 B10 game is usually not to >50% of the country on ABC. I usually get the 3:30 B10 game on the ESPN/2 reverse mirror in HD because of that.

The USC game is to >50% of the country, but for some reason, they are airing the Texas game here on ABC, so I'm stuck with USC in SD.

It's gotten to the point where i'm ready to just quit watching college football the officiating is so completely incompetent. Turns out the game wasn't even close. TD taken away, they score a TD next play. Okay, the second one that gets taken away where they miss a chippie 3 points afterwards? Okay, I'll give them 7. You wanna argue a "stolen" 1st down will score? Another 7. They still lose by more than a field goal. They could have won this game with five interceptions, but they didn't...you can blame the refs or you can blame the fact they couldn't convert turnovers into points for shit. Iowa did.

If we're going to talk about saving up film for when a team gets SCREWED and actually had the POSSIBILITY of winning a game, I give you this:

<object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/N7vRYakQgkI&hl=en&fs=1&"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/N7vRYakQgkI&hl=en&fs=1&" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>

they didn't....they were fucked in the ass by the most corrupt officiating i've ever seen in my life. it's blatantly obvious Delaney sent word that Iowa needs to win out for BCS $$$$ It's disgusting and someone should be fired for that debacle. I've never seen anything like it. I'd give up to in the 4th quarter when it became obvious it didn't matter what I did to try to win - the refs were going to give that to Iowa one way or another.

Yes the officials. Hey that's a great excuse to have when you are so inept you let a team you lead by 24-7 come back on you with 3 touchdowns and beat you by 18 points. Not to mention you let a team do that to you the 3rd game in a row. I guess the officials where in the pocket of all the other teams indiana blew leads too as well. But that's ok. It's awesome when "insert favorite team here" wins by calls that have gone your way everything is awesome but when it's not "you're team" then it's a screw job by the officials. It's cool. Are you aware that a team's strategy and play calling changes when they're up or down three possessions instead of two in the 4thQ? I'm not saying IU would not have blown it still, but the idea that it made no difference is bullshit.

Are you aware that when you have two short passes and the coverage is totally blown so badly that your players can run all the way across the field and score the TD that you're not calling crazy plays, but just playing what I consider to be fairly conservative football? If you can't stop that, I'd hate to see what happens when the opponent gets creative!

It did NOT make a difference, and if you honestly think that no calls were made against Iowa or that FAILING MISERABLY to convert turnovers wasn't the deciding factor in this game, then go on hatin'.

I know others are hating on Iowa for the NCG, too.....I don't care. I would be happy winning out and playing in the Rose Bowl. USC is getting drilled so bad that they might, might, just maybe, fall to #6

No, somehow they will be #5; heck, some might look at the Iowa win and say "I bet USC would have thrown less picks" and rank them #4. And then the ghost of John McKay will be sedated, and he will rise only to smite those whom do not have red and yellow painted on the frame of their door.

They are 2 ahead of Boise in the computers (and should increase that margin w/ the USC win) and 6.5 (averaged) behind with the humans. If they close that human gap to 1 or 2, then they have a good shot of passing.

I think TCU is more likely to clinch the automatic bid over Boise at this point. They are 4 ahead in the computers and with USC losing, they'll move closer with humans with the opportunity for more movement up if Cincy falters. Plus they still have a decent contest left vs. Utah.

The style points are more important than the actual results of the game because nobody controls anyone's destiny more than the voters.

In the standings, wins should count the same regardless of how they're achieved. In every other sport you earn a championship on the field. In Division I-A, you audition for the voters. You try to win half your games (Temple ) to get to play in a meaningless post-season exhibition game. No playoffs, no championship, no chance unless you can get the votes.

I don't post here that much mainly because there are too many people who don't even have a team of their own and they just like to go around trashing everyone else's team.

Iowa may lose to Ohio State and/or their bowl. A 10-win season is a guarantee at this point....which is a helluva lot better than most teams will do. I'm happy with that...doesn't happen to many teams very often.

Or, we may win at OSU and win our bowl, just like we won before when we didn't get the memo we were supposed to lose when we played Penn State, Michigan, Michigan State, et cetera. We'll play the games and find out.

I came here out of curiosity to see who would undoubtedly be talking shit, and found....who I expected, really.

Good call...that's why I don't CARE if Iowa plays for the NCG, even if they're undefeated. Create this controversy and get RID of this bullshit BCS. The National Champion is a mythical title, not something real, and it never will be until there's a playoff. This is especially true for the years when some committee decided to go back and dole out the National Champion title for all those years from the 50s and back...it's random. Iowa technically has never won an 'official' national title, but has gone undefeated in years when other teams SHARED the title and still not been awarded it...although we did get the Football Writers' Association of America national championship title in 1958, which just shows you how fucked up it is that you have multiple organizations from various time periods just handing out titles.......

Like I said, mythical without a playoff.

GAINESVILLE, Fla. -- Florida coach Urban Meyer has suspended Brandon Spikes for the first half of Saturday's game against Vanderbilt after the star linebacker attempted to gouge the eyes of Georgia running back Washaun Ealey in a 41-17 victory.

Meyer says Spikes was retaliating after getting his eye poked earlier in the game.

Well that explains it. Get your eye poked + half a game suspension = eye gouge.

Nonsense. Mike Golic discussed this on his talk radio show. He generally has a 'boys will be boys' attitude but not on this one. He said that anyone that says that it's the hidden part of the game is full of it. "Eye gouging" ... his words not just mine ... is not part of football and never has been. I'm going to allow the victim, Georgia's Washaun Ealey, to contribute (http://sports.espn.go.com/ncf/news/story?id=4619952) to the discussion.

My "excuse" (singular) was that FL/GA is an emotional and physical game. Washaun, would you care to comment on that?
Ealey: "It was just a lot of emotion in the game. We were out there fighting. It was a big rivalry game. Everybody was just out there talking trash back and forth. ... We were just out there playing football and having fun."

Earlier, you called Spike's move an "eye gouge." I corrected you that it was not an eye gouge. Washaun, would you comment on this?
Ealey: "He really didn't gouge my eyes. He really didn't get a chance to get close to my eyes."

Maybe you and Golic are correct and this never happens. Just to be sure, I'm going to ask Washaun if similar incidents do occur.
Ealey: "I'm pretty sure it goes on back and forth. We probably do it and other teams do too. It's all football. We're just out there trying to have fun."

Lucky for me I also heard Golic's discussion this morning. Both of you claim a half-game suspension is a joke. Guess how many games Golic would have suspended him for? 0. That's right, he thinks running stadiums at 5am for 5 weeks straight should be punishment. What a disciplinarian. Of course, the other person talking with Golic during this discussion, Mike Greenberg, felt the 1/2 game suspension is more punishment than what Golic proposed. I wonder if Washaun has anything to say about the suspension?
Ealey: "That's their decision. He shouldn't, I think, get suspended at all. We were just out there playing football."

What does that have to do with whether or not his eye was gouged? It was either gouged or it wasn't. I don't think he needs his eye open to feel a gouge.

I said his eye was not gouged. I inferred his eye was not gouged because he wasn't in pain after the play. However, I did admit it was an attempted gouge. Some Gators fans won't even admit to that, but to me there was obviously an attempt. You disagreed with that.

Ealey also said Spikes never got close to his eyes. That's obviously not the case so why should I believe anything Ealey has to say. He said that he's hanging around after a tackle with his *&%&^ eyes shut. If he isn't credible, that's on him.

Because the term "close" is relative. Obviously he knows Spikes' fingers were inside the facemask, but how do you know how close they got to his eyes? You don't know.

He said that he's hanging around after a tackle with his *&%&^ eyes shut. If he isn't credible, that's on him.

I think it is perfectly reasonable for a football player to close his eyes after being tackled and while still laying on the ground underneath a pile of players.

Look, if you want to be right to be right. Have at it. But Ealey is a fail.

Ealey is a fail? Because he admits to not feeling anything in his eye?

I think it is hilarious that you refuse to say it was an attempted eye gouge versus an actual eye gouge. After the play he gets up like nothing was wrong. He's not grabbing his eye or rolling in pain. After the game he mentions nothing about his eye being gouged (or even poked). Reporters who interviewed him with his helmet off did not notice a red, swollen eye. He then says his eye was not gouged. End of story.

Yes.

Would I call that battery? No.

BSU ranked #7 is flat ridiculous. I watched them barely beat UC-Davis at home, struggle mightily at Tulsa, and now LA Tech too? Their schedule is a joke. I mean, how much mileage are they going to get out of one (opening game at home no less) significant win? This is Iowa times 1000, and it's time for the inexplicable fascination for the team with the excrutiatingly painful to watch football on blue field to be done.
